The return of the Ray Gun Mark 2 in Black Ops 6 Zombies on the Shattered Veil map introduces exciting upgrades for this iconic wonder weapon. Players can now enhance the Ray Gun Mark 2’s performance significantly, going beyond the standard capabilities provided by the Pack-a-Punch system. This comprehensive guide outlines simple, effective steps to maximize the Ray Gun’s potential.
The Ray Gun Mark 2 can be transformed into three unique upgrades, each offering distinct advantages. Below, you will find detailed instructions on how to obtain each upgrade, enabling players to craft the ultimate weapon to tackle the game’s toughest challenges, including Easter eggs and map conquests.
Obtaining the Empty Canisters for Ray Gun Mark 2 Upgrades
To begin with the upgrades, players must collect Empty Canisters, and for the three upgrades available, players will need a total of three canisters. Here are the methods to acquire these essential items:
Empty Canister #1

Shooting blue crystals scattered across the Shattered Veil map will yield the first Empty Canister. To destroy these blue crystals, players must use the Ray Gun Mk2. Below are the specific locations for the crystals containing the canister:
- Conservatory, located before Quick Revive.
- Ceiling in the East Foyer, near Stamin-Up.
- Southwest balcony ascending from the Nursery.
- Ceiling of the Service Tunnels, accessed via the Mainframe Chamber.
Empty Canister #2

For the second canister, players must navigate to the Mainframe Chamber and proceed through the Service Tunnel. There, a burst valve is located to the left of the Doppelghast cell where players had previously acquired the Severed Arm for the Ray Gun Mk2. Interacting with the valve will direct players to pipes labeled ‘A’ and ‘B’. Here’s what you need to do:
- Return to the Mainframe Chamber and find a glass chamber linked to either ‘A’ or ‘B’.
- Throw a Combat Axe at the middle red valve to make it burst, then throw a second Combat Axe at the corresponding valve (‘A’ or ‘B’).
- Finally, use a Molotov cocktail on the glass chamber to reveal the Empty Canister.
Players can craft Molotovs for 350 Salvage at Level 32 and Combat Axes at Level 53 for 200 Salvage. Moreover, additional Combat Axes can be found scattered throughout the map.
Empty Canister #3

The final Empty Canister requires an LT53 Kazimir, which can be crafted for 1,500 Salvage once players reach Level 48 or obtained as loot from Special/Elite Zombies. To find the Empty Canister:
- Go to the Rear Patio area behind the Double Tap Root Beer perk machine, where a zombie spawn hole is located.
- Throw the LT53 Kazimir near this hole to draw the canister into the playable area.
Acquiring the Ray Gun Mark 2-W

Once you have an Empty Canister, proceed to Shem’s Henge, located to the right of the spawn area next to Speed Cola. Interact with the yellow machine to place the canister, which will prompt an Abomination to spawn in the center of Shem’s Henge. Do not eliminate the Abomination; instead, lure its laser attack toward three medium rocks around the area. Successfully baiting it will cause the rocks to glow blue.

Once the rocks are floating, players must defend the portal that appears in the center of Shem’s Henge against encroaching vermin, using rapid-fire weapons to keep them at bay until the lockdown concludes. After successfully completing this task, return to the canister, now transformed into an Explosive Canister.

Subsequently, go to the Supply Depot, located past the Service Tunnel in the Mainframe Chamber, and interact with the yellow crafting bench to convert the regular Ray Gun Mk2 into the Ray Gun Mark 2-W. This variant is enhanced to fire fully automatic rounds instead of the original three-round bursts.
Acquiring the Ray Gun Mark 2-R

To obtain the Ray Gun Mark 2-R, players must collect four Plant Seeds, which can be harvested from Dark Aether plants located in the outer areas of the Shattered Veil map. To maximize your chances of obtaining Plant Seeds, detonate the red plants with grenades or Semtex.

After gathering all four Plant Seeds, head to the Conservatory area. Interact with the yellow machine to place one of your Empty Canisters, followed by placing each Plant Seed in one of the incubators situated around the Conservatory. As the Plant Seeds grow, you will need to fend off zombies to protect them; once they are fully grown, the zombies will ignore them, allowing you to collect them safely.

Once all four Plant Seeds are harvested, the Toxic Spores Harvested meter on the screen will be filled, signifying completion. Go back to where the Empty Canister was to collect the Toxic Canister. Finally, head to the upgrade bench located at the Garden Pond (spawn area) to craft the Ray Gun Mark 2-R, a sniper variant capable of firing toxic, long-range shots.
Acquiring the Ray Gun Mark 2-P

To unlock the Ray Gun Mark 2-P, players need to first acquire two Reflectors:
- Interact with the stone fountain outside the Conservatory to obtain the first Reflector.
- The second Reflector can be obtained from another stone fountain located outside the South West Balcony.

Next, you’ll need to find an Essence Bomb. These can be acquired by destroying white wooden crates scattered throughout the map, which may drop the bomb randomly. Once you have the Essence Bomb, head to the Service Tunnels where you can find rubble that can be destroyed to expose a secret room.

Inside this secret room, place the Empty Canister in a yellow crate; this will activate a blue beam from a crystal. Position the first Reflector where the blue beam directly hits, then follow the beam’s path to place the second Reflector. After setting up both Reflectors, melee the blue crystal to spawn and defeat a Doppelghast. This process must be repeated a total of three times, relocating the Reflectors as necessary to follow the beam.

After vanquishing all three Doppelghasts, retrieve the Light Canister, then head to the Director’s Quarters to craft the Ray Gun Mark 2-P at the workbench. This purple variant resembles a shotgun, performing exceptionally well in close-quarter encounters.
