The Secrets of the Manor in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Within the captivating world of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, players will discover a manor that piques curiosity. This intriguing location emerges during a pivotal point in the main quest when expedition members become separated. As Lune and Gustave navigate their challenges, they encounter the manor and decide to delve deeper, seeking answers to the unfolding mysteries.
Upon entering, players will encounter a mysterious entity known as the Curator, who has been safeguarding Maelle within the manor’s confines. However, exploration is initially hindered; all the doors are inoperative and appear to be locked. To unlock the secrets of the manor, players must first uncover the locations of the manor doors dispersed throughout The Continent in Expedition 33.
The following sections contain spoilers, so proceed with caution.
Locations of Manor Doors in Expedition 33
In addition to the two secret rooms located inside the manor, players can discover a total of 11 doors across The Continent, with the final door requiring a unique item for access.
Manor Door #1 – Gestral Village
To locate the first manor door, journey to Gestral Village and engage with its accompanying puzzle. Upon arriving, move right until a “Turn Back”sign appears, then proceed to find the manor door. Inside, interact with a head statue, the central pot on the rack, and a small candelabra to unveil a secret trap door.
Bypassing the sleeping Gestral, navigate through the hole next to it to discover the Rebellious Hairstyle for Maelle after clearing some crates. Venture further into a cluttered room that holds a photograph of the Sandfall Interactive team. One of the locked doors leads to this room, which is accessed via another manor door. Return and ascend the stairs to unlock the kitchen door, then use the alternative exit to access the manor’s lower floor.
Secret Room #1 – Dining Room
Before moving on, explore the dining room to uncover the first secret. Four interactive switches await to unveil a hidden room.
Switch 1
Upon entering, look right to find the first switch.
Switch 2
Head to the rightmost column in the dining area to access the second switch.
Switch 3
Locate the third switch on the left side of the room, positioned close to the previous column.
Switch 4
Approach the seating area and fireplace to activate the final switch, which is located above a suspicious square on the wall, serving as the secret entrance.
Once inside the secret room, collect the Nocturne Pour Un Masque De Tristesse music record.
Secret Room #2 – Monoco Room
Return to the main staircase, then head to the left wing on the second floor. Ascend the stairs to find a large painting below the level of the others. Pass through it to discover Monoco’s room, filled with dog toys and a portrait of the dog. Make sure to grab the necessary item before leaving.
Manor Door #2 – Stone Wave Cliffs
Make your way to the Stone Wave Cliffs and fast-travel to the Tide Caverns expedition flag. Turn around and use your grapple to cross to the other side. Descend and navigate to the right side until you locate a path adorned with bright lamps leading downward. Defeat the Gold Chevaliere boss to discover a manor door hidden behind it. Inside, check the closet for the Skirt Outfit for Maelle.
Manor Door #3 – The Continent
While exploring The Continent, head northwest of the Stone Wave Cliffs to find an island. Utilize Esquie to unlock the manor door leading to the library. Ascend the stairs and interact with the stacks of books to reveal a hidden office containing the Civilian Outfit for Verso. This room connects back to a cluttered area where a photograph of the dev team can be found.
Manor Door #4 – Old Lumiere
Head to Old Lumiere and navigate to the Manor Gardens expedition flag. Move left through a crack in the wall to discover the manor door. In the bathroom, retrieve the Renoir music record and afterward read the Renoir Journal in the bedroom.
Manor Door #5 – Falling Leaves
Swim towards the Falling Leaves area, beginning at the Resinveil Grove expedition flag. Follow forward and turn right down a rope until the manor door next to the Lady of Sap is visible. Inside, players will uncover the Alicia music record and access the room where Maelle was initially found at the start of Expedition 33.
Manor Door #6 – Visages
Once you have unlocked the Visages in Expedition 33, head to the Anger Vale expedition flag and find the small cave on the right. Opening the manor door leads to a playroom featuring a piano. Retrieve the Verso music record before departing to find an Unknown Journal in the bedroom atop a chest.
Manor Door #7 – Sirene
Fast travel to the Sewing Atelier expedition flag in Sirene. Glide right, using the grapple to cross until encountering a man. Navigate to the manor door nearby; the bathroom may appear unremarkable but hides a secret. Attack or shoot the mirror to reveal a hidden room. Within, gather the item before exiting towards the manor’s entrance.
Manor Door #8 – Inside The Monolith
Approach the Tainted Battlefield expedition flag leading towards Inside the Monolith. Proceed until a wooden gate appears to the left. Walk further to uncover a grave featuring Gustave’s arm, then turn left to find the manor door. Inside, collect the L’amour D’une Mere music record and read Aline’s Journal located in the greenhouse.
Manor Door #9 – The Reacher
After unlocking The Reacher with Esquie’s flying ability, head to the Ladded Area expedition flag. Move right and drop down to locate the manor door. Enter this room to discover an Unknown Journal.
Manor Door #10 – The Continent
Fly toward the island situated southeast of the Stone Wave Cliffs Cave while traversing The Continent. Open the closet to find a concealed room with several enemy statues, along with the Forlorn music record.
Manor Door #11 – Frozen Hearts
From the Glacial Falls expedition flag in Frozen Hearts, proceed along the narrow path filled with icicles and grapple to the opposite side. Descend on the rope to confront a Chromatic Veilleur boss. Depending on your strategy, either flee to the door or defeat the boss. Once inside, move to the bedroom and retrieve Clea! Don’t Pull Your Sister’s Hair! music record.
Manor Door #12 – The Canvas
The Canvas is located southwest of The Monolith. Enter this area and interact with the Dessendre Family Portrait to acquire it as an essential quest item in Expedition 33. Return to the manor through any previous doors and place the portrait in the empty frame at the top of the stairs on the right. This action unlocks the final door at the end of the dining room, revealing an Unknown Journal and the Painted Me Outfit for Maelle.
