City The Animation Reveals Two New Voice Actors

On April 7, 2025, the production team behind City The Animation continued its weekly cast announcements by unveiling two new voice actors joining the series: Kazutomi Yamamoto, who will voice the character Obaba, the owner of Mokumesei Manor, and Kiyomitsu Mizuchi, who will portray Ii Hito, also known as the Good Guy.

This recent addition marks the second set of cast announcements since the series began these weekly updates on March 31. The inaugural reveal featured Yu Miyazaki as Kamaboko Oni, a manga artist, and Ryota Suzuki as Todoroki, Kamaboko’s editor, setting the stage for the talent roster of this highly anticipated show.

Rising Expectations with Ongoing Cast Reveals

Although Yamamoto and Mizuchi have notable roles in the anime realm, their previous projects may not be widely recognized by audiences. Yamamoto is perhaps best remembered for his role as Yuuya Mochizuki in the series Another, while Mizuchi is known for voicing Iggy in Ergo Proxy. Regardless, they contribute to a rapidly growing ensemble cast that already boasts considerable star power, including:

  • Mikako Komatsu as Midori Nagumo
  • Aki Toyosaki as Niikura
  • Yui Ishikawa as Wako Izumi
  • Yoshihisa Kawahara as Tsurubishi Makabe
  • Miyu Irino as Tatewaku Makabe
  • Ayaka Nanase as Matsuri Makabe
  • Azusa Tadokoro as Eri Amakazari
  • Yū Wakui as Riko Izumi
  • Takehito Koyasu as Dr. Adatara/Adatara’s father
  • Mayumi Asano as Adatara’s mother
  • KENN as Tatsuta Adatara
  • Satoshi Inomata as Ryōta Adatara
  • Coco Hayashi as Kamome Adatara
  • Haruna Fukushima as Umi Adatara

City The Animation is scheduled to premiere in Japan on Tokyo MX at 12 AM JST on July 7, 2025. Following this, the series will also be broadcast on ABC TV and TV Aichi, with additional airings scheduled on BS11 later that same day. Fans can look forward to the opening theme, “Hello,” performed by singer-songwriter Riho Furui, while the ending theme, “Lucky,” will be brought to life by TOMOO.

The directorial helm of City The Animation is managed by Taichi Ishidate at Kyoto Animation. This marks the studio’s first original anime project without a sequel in six years, a period notably defined by the tragic arson attack on the studio in July 2019. Recently, the death sentence for the perpetrator, Shinji Aoba, was finalized after his appeal to the Kyoto District Court was officially withdrawn.

Character design and chief animation direction for the series are under Tamami Tokuyama, while Shiori Yamazaki serves as the art director. The color design is led by Kana Miyata, with Hiroki Ueda taking charge as the director of photography. Tatsunori Kase has been appointed as the 3D director, and Yota Tsuruoka is the sound director, ensuring a comprehensive and high-quality production. Additionally, the musical score is being composed by the members of the quarter Piranhans, with Pony Canyon overseeing music production.
