While Chris Hemsworth has made a name for himself in Hollywood, he acknowledges one co-star who makes him feel starstruck: Halle Berry. The two actors will soon be seen together in Crime 101, which adds a unique angle to their working relationship.
Hemsworth’s passion for acting is rooted in his upbringing, as he comes from a family of actors. With his brothers Luke and Liam both involved in the entertainment industry, Hemsworth made his Hollywood debut in Star Trek
(2009). However, it was his portrayal of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that catapulted him into superstardom. He has reprised this role in numerous films, including The Avengers
series and four standalone Thor films.
Aside from the MCU, Hemsworth has also starred in blockbuster action films like Extraction
(2020) and its sequel Extraction 2
(2023), as well as the upcoming Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
(2024). The actor’s versatility is on full display, yet he still finds himself intimidated by Berry’s prowess.
During his appearance at Amazon MGM Studios’ presentation at CinemaCon 2025, Hemsworth candidly shared his sentiments about working with Berry. In a red carpet interview, he expressed respect for her formidable talent and noted that some actors inspire creativity and exploration among their peers. He admitted:
I’ve admired Halle’s work for many, many years. I was obviously very intimidated to sit opposite her within a scene and try and, you know, not just be in awe of what she was doing.
In turn, Berry applauded Hemsworth for his supportive nature. Though she did not reveal specifics, she hinted at a particular incident on set that made her a “fan” of Hemsworth. She remarked:
I knew right then I’m gonna follow this guy, be a fan of this guy for the rest of his life because he stood up for a woman. He didn’t have to do it and he did it.
The chemistry and mutual respect between Berry and Hemsworth indicate a fruitful collaboration, and both actors have expressed interest in working together again in the future. Hemsworth is confirmed to reprise his role in Avengers: Doomsday
, and there were rumors of Berry joining the cast as her X-Men
character, Storm. However, she has since stated she will not be participating.
In Crime 101, audiences can expect riveting performances from both actors, who are no strangers to high-octane roles. Berry’s track record includes captivating performances in action films such as John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum
(2019), Kidnap
(2017), and as a Bond girl in Die Another Day
(2002). Berry has also excelled in dramatic roles, earning her an Academy Award for her work in Monster's Ball
(2001).
The film Crime 101 promises a thrilling narrative, featuring Hemsworth as a master jewel thief named Davis, with Mark Ruffalo joining as Detective Lou Lubesnick, who is hot on his trail. Berry portrays an insurance broker who inadvertently gets caught up in Davis’s criminal escapades.
This upcoming thriller is bound to keep viewers on the edge of their seats, combining a gripping storyline with the star power of Hemsworth and Berry. Look out for Crime 101, set to release this year.
