Cecily Strong Welcomes Baby Girl Amidst Joyous SNL Celebrations
On April 10, 2023, Cecily Strong, a prominent cast member of Saturday Night Live, announced the arrival of her first child, a baby girl, via an Instagram post. This delightful news adds to the celebratory atmosphere surrounding SNL, which recently marked its remarkable 50-year milestone along with plans for a UK adaptation of the iconic show.
Having been part of the show since 2012, Cecily has entertained audiences for over a decade. She first shared the news of her pregnancy prior to last year’s presidential election on social media, confirming that she conceived through IVF after years of grappling with fertility challenges.
Heartfelt Instagram Announcement
The 41-year-old comedian’s joyful post described her bustling new family life, introducing her newborn daughter and pet dog in the caption, “Me and my girls.” She indicated that her daughter was born on April 2, just over a week before the announcement.
Cecily playfully referred to her daughter as “squirmy”and joyfully exclaimed:
“I recognize all her little squirms and kicks from when she was on the other side of me, and now I get to say, ‘see what I was talking about!'”
Her humorous storytelling continued as she revealed her daughter’s amusing antics, likening her expressions to classic Robert De Niro faces during feeding times. She joyfully anticipated how much her daughter would grow stronger in no time, cherishing the “squeaks and sighs” as her favorite sounds.
A Memorable Birth Experience
Cecily highlighted the joyful moment when her daughter arrived, noting the baby came into the world with a full head of dark hair — a moment that made her shout, “whoo hoo!”during delivery. Describing the experience as winning the lottery, she expressed immense gratitude towards the supportive medical team at Alexandra Cohen Hospital.
“It was such a relatively easy birth with a glorious epidural that I forgot I’d still have to recover afterward from what feels like was the Muay Thai fighter from White Lotus kicking the crap out of my cooch,”she humorously noted.
As she progresses in her recovery, Cecily candidly shares that healing is taking longer than the instant magic she had envisioned. Despite her exhaustion, she expressed being enamored with motherhood, describing it as the “greatest dream.”She also praised her fiancé, John, for his supportive role as a father, remarking on his efforts to care for both her and their child.
In her light-hearted fashion, she affectionately termed John the “best partner” and acknowledged her frequent calls to the pediatrician as she navigates her new journey in parenthood.
Cecily’s joyful post was met with a flood of congratulatory messages from her fellow SNL cast members, including Bobby Moynihan, Kenan Thompson, and Ana Gasteyer, celebrating this milestone with her.
