CBS Announces Final Season for “The Neighborhood”
CBS has confirmed that its popular comedy series, The Neighborhood, featuring Cedric the Entertainer, will conclude with an eighth season slated for the 2025-26 broadcast year. This upcoming season will mark a significant milestone as it will be the series’ farewell chapter.
Amy Reisenbach, the president of CBS Entertainment, expressed her appreciation for the show’s impact, stating, “The brilliant cast and creative team at The Neighborhood, led by the incomparable Cedric the Entertainer, have brought levity, laughter, and poignant storylines to Monday nights for seven incredible seasons. The Neighborhood is a strong ratings performer for CBS and one of the top comedies on TV. We believe the show’s loyal fans deserve a proper farewell season full of the trademark humor and heartfelt moments that are synonymous with the series.”
Since its premiere, The Neighborhood has become CBS’s longest-running comedy, with a total of 128 episodes. Currently, the show maintains a robust viewership of approximately 6.4 million across all platforms this season, considering five weeks of delayed viewing.
The ensemble cast includes Max Greenfield, Beth Behrs, Tichina Arnold, Sheaun McKinney, Marcel Spears, and Skye Townsend, all of whom have contributed to the show’s resonance with audiences.
Future Expansions: Spin-offs and New Ventures
While The Neighborhood will be reaching its conclusion, the universe created by the series will continue to thrive. A new spin-off titled Crutch, featuring Tracy Morgan, is on the horizon and will stream exclusively on Paramount+. Additionally, a back-door pilot centering on characters played by Sheaun McKinney and Marcel Spears is expected to air at the season’s end, potentially expanding the franchise further.
