On March 18, 2025, the official website for the highly anticipated Cat’s Eye anime released a second promotional video, revealing that the series is set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ Star in September 2025. The announcement was complemented by insights into the main cast and staff involved in the project.

The upcoming anime is a modern adaptation of Tsukasa Hojo’s beloved manga, which was originally serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump between 1981 and 1985, spanning a total of 18 volumes. This refreshing take on the classic storyline aims to capture both new audiences and long-time fans alike.

A Glimpse into the Legacy of Cat’s Eye

The narrative previously inspired a television adaptation produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha, which aired from July 1983 to March 1984, totaling 36 episodes. Due to its popularity, a second season followed, airing 37 episodes from October 1984 to July 1985. With decades of allure, the Cat’s Eye series continues to resonate with fans around the world.

Exciting Details on the New Series

The promotional video recently featured on the official website indicates that the new Cat’s Eye anime will prominently showcase the Kisugi sisters, with the plot revolving around their thrilling escapades as renowned thieves. Notable characters include Rui, Hitomi, and Ai, along with police detective Toshio Utsumi, who actively pursues the enigmatic Cat’s Eye thieves. The trailer also features Ado’s rendition of Anri’s iconic opening theme from the original series, further amplifying the nostalgia.

In addition to the PV, the official website has shared two captivating visuals: one presenting the Kisugi sisters cheerfully managing the Cat’s Eye Cafe during daylight, and another depicting their nighttime adventures as thieves against a backdrop of towering skyscrapers.

Meet the Talented Voice Cast and Creative Team

The official release also introduced the voice cast for the anime. Leading the charge is Ami Koshimizu as Rui Kisugi, the responsible eldest sister who masterminds the team’s strategies. Mikako Komatsu brings life to Hitomi Kisugi, the bubbly second sister and focal point of their sisterly bond. Lastly, Yumiri Hanamori will voice Ai Kisugi, the youngest sister with a fascination for technology. Completing the cast is Takuya Sato as Toshio Utsumi, a detective devoted to Hitomi.

Production Insights and the Show’s Premise

Directed by Yoshifumi Sueda at LIDEN FILMS, the series script is supervised by Mori Hayashi, while character designs are handled by Yosuke Yabumoto, who also serves as the chief animation director. The musical score for the anime will be composed by Yuki Hayashi.
