Candace Cameron Bure faced elimination in episode 7 of The Masked Singer, which aired on March 26, 2025. Dressed in a vibrant Cherry Blossom costume, she became the first participant to be sent home from her team. Following her exit, Bure opened up about her experience to Parade magazine on March 28, sharing her thoughts on the challenges she confronted while competing in the show.
Candace Cameron Bure’s Insights from The Masked Singer
Conquering Singing Anxiety
Revealing her battle with a long-standing fear of singing, Bure recounted how she ultimately decided to take on the challenge. Despite being approached to join the show multiple times, she initially declined the opportunity.
“I had actually been asked to do the show four times. And three times I said no, because I am so scared to sing,”she explained.
It was only after undergoing vocal training with coach Tara Simon that Bure felt ready to embrace the challenge. This preparation played a crucial role in her decision-making process.
“So when The Masked Singer came back around, I was like, ‘You know what? What do I have to lose? This show is super fun. I need to just go for it.'”
The Journey as Cherry Blossom
When asked about her initial reaction to the costume design, Bure described her excitement after seeing it during a Zoom call. She found the Cherry Blossom attire “amazing”and “so beautiful,”appreciating the sense of freedom it afforded her while performing.
Despite her nerves, Bure dedicated significant time to practice. She reflected on her performance with a sense of relief.
“I probably rehearsed it way more times than any other contestant, I feel like. Because I just was so nervous.”
“I just wanted to hit my notes, and I wanted to stay on beat and hit all my cues. So I really did have fun. But once it was over, I could breathe!”
Thoughts on Elimination and Future Aspirations
Before the elimination round, Bure expressed an understanding that, should she be the first to go, she would be okay with it. However, after her actual exit, she found her perspective had notably changed.
“I told my husband before we went back out, I was like, ‘I did it. I’m fine. I don’t ever have to do this again. I won’t be sad if I’m eliminated first. It’s totally fine.'”
Bure revealed that she was intrigued by the judges’ inability to identify her. Jenny McCarthy, one of the panelists, came close by referencing Bure’s iconic role in Full House, yet she did not name her directly, which amused Bure. Additionally, she emphasized that while she gained confidence from the experience, singing was not something she was planning to pursue further.
“I’m like, ‘Listen, if I have to sing a little bit somewhere, I’ll at least feel more confident and a little bit more comfortable to do it.’ But yeah, I’m definitely not adding singing to my resume.”
