BTS j-hope Makes History as 1st K-Soloist with 3 Special Edition Japanese Newspaper Features for Tour

j-hope of BTS has made waves online, particularly among Japanese audiences, thanks to his impactful solo tour. In an extraordinary gesture, three leading sports newspapers in Japan—Nikkan Sports, Daily Sports, and Sports Hochi—released special editions featuring the artist on April 19, coinciding with his solo concerts, titled HOPE ON THE STAGE, held in the country.

This remarkable achievement marks j-hope as the first K-pop solo artist to be honored in this way by local Japanese media simultaneously. According to South Korean outlet MBC Entertainment, such simultaneous recognition is a rare feat, further underscoring j-hope’s influence as a solo performer in Japan.

As anticipation and excitement spread through social media, fans of BTS celebrated the occasion, expressing pride in j-hope’s incredible success during his solo tour. Many took to platforms like Twitter to highlight their admiration for his artistry and impact.

“J-Hope didn’t just perform in Japan—he left his mark in ink and hearts. 3 front pages, sold-out arenas, and endless HOPE. This isn’t just a tour, it’s a legacy in the making,”a fan said.

“J-hope’s been setting records on the daily!,”a fan added.

Successful Performances: j-hope Sells Out Two Shows in Japan

j-hope wowed audiences with two sold-out performances as part of the HOPE ON THE STAGE concert series at Saitama Super Arena on April 19 and 20, 2025. Remarkably, both concerts sold out immediately after ticket sales opened.

This tour marked his first visit to Japan in over two and a half years since the 2022 Mnet Asian Music Awards in November 2022. Speaking to the enthusiastic audience, j-hope expressed his joy, stating,

“It’s been a long time since I’ve been to Japan. I realized how happy it is to be able to be with so many people. I will work hard for future concerts with my warm love for ARMY (fandom name) in my heart.”

Both performances attracted an impressive 74,000 attendees, eclipsing the turnout for the BMO Stadium concert, which hosted 48,000 fans. Though the Saitama Super Arena has a standard capacity of 37,000 seats, the overwhelming demand led organizers to expand the seating arrangements.

The concerts in Japan recorded the highest audience figures for the HOPE ON THE STAGE series to date, highlighting j-hope’s substantial impact and popularity.

In addition, j-hope is set to continue his successful tour with two more concerts planned for May 31 and June 1, 2025, at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, promising more unforgettable performances for his fans.
