Box Office Forecast: ‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ Set to Achieve $46M-$48M Opening Weekend

Warner Bros. Achieves Box Office Triumph with ‘Final Destination Bloodlines’

For the third consecutive weekend, Warner Bros. has secured a remarkable position at the box office, largely attributed to the success of New Line’s highly anticipated release, Final Destination Bloodlines. This supernatural horror-thriller has captured the attention of both critics and audiences alike.

Record-Breaking Opening Weekend

On Friday, Bloodlines dominated the box office, generating an impressive $20.8 million from 3,523 screens. This total includes $5.5 million collected during Thursday previews. Industry experts estimate its opening weekend earnings could reach between $46 million and $48 million, setting a franchise record. This performance not only positions the film as the weekend’s top performer but also signals a successful revival of a franchise that first graced the big screen 25 years ago. In contrast, the previous film, Final Destination 5, debuted in 2011 with an opening of $18 million, without adjusting for inflation.

Film Details and Cast

Directed by Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky, Bloodlines stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana in the role of a young woman who uncovers the shocking truth about her grandmother’s ability to evade death and rescue numerous lives, albeit with chilling repercussions. The ensemble cast also includes Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore, Tony Todd, Gabrielle Rose, Brec Bassinger, and Max Lloyd-Jones.

Warner Bros. Continues to Shine

Beyond Bloodlines, Warner Bros. is making significant strides across the box office with other titles as well. Ryan Coogler’s much-discussed film Sinners, now in its fifth weekend, continues to perform exceptionally well. It is expected to contend closely with Disney and Marvel’s Thunderbolts, which is projected to earn $15 million to $16 million in its third weekend, bringing its domestic lifetime total past $150 million as it surpasses the $300 million mark globally.

Other Noteworthy Releases

In addition, the Minecraft Movie is anticipated to secure a fourth-place finish with estimated earnings of $5.5 million to $6 million in its seventh weekend, elevating its status as the highest-grossing film of the year to date, with over $900 million in global ticket sales.

Completing the top five is Amazon MGM Studios’ The Accountant, featuring Ben Affleck, projected to reach $4.6 million in its fourth weekend, culminating in a robust domestic total nearing $60 million.

Challenging Weekend for ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’

The outlook appears less favorable for Lionsgate and Live Nation’s Hurry Up Tomorrow, which centers on a troubled pop star portrayed by Abel Tesfaye, known as The Weeknd. This film, a companion piece to his album of the same name, is anticipated to debut in sixth place with a range of $3 million to $3.6 million. Starring alongside Tesfaye are Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan, but the project has faced negative reviews from critics and received a disappointing C- CinemaScore from audiences. Directed by Trey Edward Shults, the storyline follows Tesfaye’s character—a musician on the brink of a mental crisis—immersed in a surreal journey instigated by a mysterious individual.

Specialty Box Office Highlights

On the specialty box office front, A24’s Friendship is set to expand into 62 locations, with projections indicating a weekend earnings of $2.5 million, translating to an impressive per-theater average of $23,333—the best for this weekend.
