Blue Prince features several specialized rooms, with the Boiler Room being crucial among them. As one of the few Mechanical Rooms, it plays a vital role in activating mechanisms and supplying power to other areas of the estate.
Initially, the Boiler Room is offline, preventing access to the opposite side of the metal walkway until players can successfully reactivate the boilers. This article outlines the function of the Boiler Room and provides a detailed step-by-step guide to bring it back online.
Understanding the Function of the Boiler Room in Blue Prince

The BOILER ROOM serves as a vital POWER SOURCE, supplying steam energy to various rooms via interconnected ducts suspended from the ceiling. This system allows steam power to traverse great distances as long as connected rooms have power ducts.
Once players solve the Boiler Room puzzle, they can channel power through the ducts to activate one of the three doors indicated in the floor plan. While not every room has power ducts, those that do will exhibit visible duct lines leading from the doorways.
Rooms that require power for specific mechanisms—such as the Laboratory—necessitate that players first power the Boiler Room, then connect it to these rooms via ducts or by placing them nextdoor. By default, the power routes are directed towards the middle doorway, but players can adjust this to alternate sides using a switch located under the main display.

Boiler Room Puzzle Walkthrough
Upon entering the Boiler Room, players will encounter a few notable features. A long metal walkway contains a sealed door, and both the extendable bridge and the gate leading to this area are currently inactive. An unpowered elevator also sits in one of the corners.
To successfully activate the Boiler Room and resolve the accompanying puzzle, players must turn on all three boilers, some of which may initially be unreachable. Follow this structured guide to efficiently solve the Boiler Room puzzle:

- 1. Activate the first boiler located at the foot of the stairs.

- 2. Adjust the red pipe to funnel steam towards the six-pipe interchange mechanism positioned in the center of the room.

- 3. Rotate the y-shaped pipe to connect the first boiler to the back left pipe (facing away from it), activating the track.

- 4. Observe the movement of the track and, when there is a gap in the metal sheets, rotate the y-shaped pipe again to deactivate the track, allowing access to the second boiler.

- 5. Activate the second boiler, which will send steam into a pipe that flows toward the first red pipe.

- 6. Locate the small blue redirector lever attached to the pipe emanating from the second boiler. Adjust it to the right to properly redirect the steam.

- 7. Alter the red pipe to align it with the second boiler’s output, which should power the elevator.

- 8. Use the elevator to ascend and pull the lever on the other side of the previously blocked gate to unlock it.
- 9. Activate the third boiler situated on the metal walkway, then return downstairs. The current piping setup will also unlock the sealed doorway.

- 10. Adjust the red pipe to redirect steam from the first boiler instead of the second.

- 11. Rotate the y-shaped pipe three times to enhance the metal path toward the now-unlocked gate. This will also channel the first boiler’s steam upward into the main mechanism.

- 12. Return to the second boiler and trace the pipe away from it to find the blue knob switch again. Set it to direct steam upwards into the upper mechanism.
- 13. Ascend the stairs and cross the walkway; then turn the blue knob next to the third boiler to the left, directing its steam energy towards the upper mechanism.
Once all three boilers are connected to the main control unit, three indicators will appear in the bottom left corner of the screen, each corresponding to an activated boiler. At this stage, simply click the “Activate”button to energize the power source and finalize the Boiler Room puzzle!
Players can alter the direction of power on the Boiler Room by pulling a lever situated directly beneath the display. This display shows which of the three doorway options is currently powered. Remember that power can only be directed to a room that is connected via ductwork to the Boiler Room or positioned adjacent to it, limiting you to one power direction at any time.
