Overview of Black Torch

The narrative centers on Jirou Azuma, a seventeen-year-old high school student with a unique lineage—descended from ninjas. He possesses the rare ability to communicate with animals. His life takes a dramatic turn when he encounters an injured black cat, which turns out to be a Mononoke, a demonic spirit embroiled in an ongoing conflict with humanity.

When a malevolent Mononoke seeks Ragou, Jirou steps in to protect him, leveraging his shinobi training. This act of bravery leads to Jirou sustaining a fatal injury. In a surprising twist, Ragou must decide between reclaiming his own strength by consuming Jirou’s remaining energy or opting to save him instead. He chooses the latter, transferring his energy to Jirou.

The incident catches the attention of Ryousuke Shiba, an officer from the Bureau of Espionage. He extends an invitation to Jirou and his grandfather to join their newly formed team known as Black Torch, which is dedicated to combating powerful Mononokes that threaten innocents. Thus begins the exhilarating saga of a boy and a cat, thrust into a dynamic “Shinobi”conflict.
