Black Butler Manga Confirms Return in April 2025 After 10-Month Hiatus

This marks a significant moment for fans following a 10-month hiatus.

The hiatus, which began in June 2024, was initiated by Toboso to allow her time for essential research as she prepared for the manga’s climax. After nearly a year away from the storyline, readers can expect to dive back into the captivating world of Black Butler soon.

The current issue of G Fantasy magazine that was released on March 18, 2025, provided a preview of its contents, confirming the return of Black Butler in its upcoming May issue. Alongside this announcement, an illustration of Sebastian was revealed, piquing the interest of fans eager for more updates.

Continuing its reliable publishing schedule, Square Enix’s G Fantasy magazine issues come out every month on the 18th. Thus, the return of Black Butler is set for April 18, 2025. The upcoming issue will not only feature the manga on its cover but will also include a special supplement dedicated to the series.

Preview images indicate that the cover will showcase iconic characters Ciel Phantomhive and Sebastian Michaelis. Additionally, a commemorative B3 poster will be released in the May 2025 issue, celebrating the manga’s return. Further details and updates are expected as the release date approaches.

This upcoming issue symbolizes a fresh chapter for the dark fantasy series, resuming storytelling that has captivated readers since Toboso first launched the manga in Monthly G Fantasy back in 2006. To date, the series has produced 34 tankobon volumes under the Gangan Comics label, with English translations provided by Yen Press.

The return of the manga coincides perfectly with the launch of the fifth season of the anime adaptation, produced by CloverWorks, which is scheduled to premiere on April 5, 2025. This season, covering the Emerald Witch arc from the manga, will be broadcast on Tokyo MX, BS11, and several other channels.
