Galvantula is Joltik’s evolution and was introduced in Gen 5’s Unova region. It is part of the small spider-like family in the franchise, along with Spinarak/Ariados, Dewpider/Araquanid, and Tarountula/Spidops.
It first appeared in Pokemon Go back in 2020 with the release of Trade Evolution. However, its Shiny form wasn’t available in the game until Agust 2023, when the Pokemon Go Fest 2023: Global took place.
The dual Bug/Electric-type Pokemon has an attack-based stat spread of 201 (ATK), 128 (DEF), and 172 (STAT) and can reach a max CP value of 2206. Galvantula is only vulnerable to Rock and Fire-type moves, so players must be careful during PvP and PvE battles as it’ll take double damage from them.
Best moveset for Galvantula
The best moveset players can select for Galvantula in Pokemon Go is Fury Cutter as a Fast Move and Bug Buzz as a Charged Move, with 13.34 damage per second. More so, it’s worth noting that these moves can be boosted by both Rainy weather and the Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB).
Despite having double typing, it’s smarter to focus on this multiple-legged fellow Bug-type moves. Bug Buzz is Galvantula’s strongest Charged Move and it works better offensively when paired up with Fury Cutter as a Fast Move, above Volt Switch or Charge Beam.

Is Galvantula any good in Pokemon Go?
Galvantula is the top Bug/Electric-type Pokemon in the game, surpassing -by far- fellow Gen 7 Charjabug and its evolution Vikavolt. Plus, the Bug Buzz attack has a Special Effect in PvP battles, which consists of a 30% chance of decreasing the target’s defense by 20%.
However, in Great and Master Leagues it’s not at all a powerhouse ‘mon due to its low ATK, poor bulk, and unremarkable move pool, which actually work a little better on the defensive side.
XL Galvantula does perform better in Ultra League, as its matchup spread is quite impressive and can take down champions like Dragonite, Venusaur, and Gallade.
