Bella Thorne has publicly accused Mickey Rourke of inappropriate conduct during their collaboration on the 2020 film Girl, particularly following Rourke’s recent contentious remarks on Celebrity Big Brother UK.
On April 11, 2025, Thorne took to her Instagram Stories to share her insights, which included a repost regarding Rourke’s homophobic remarks towards singer JoJo Siwa. In her candid post, the 27-year-old actress recounted a harrowing incident from the set that she described as one of her most distressing experiences in her career:
“In a scene where I’m on my knees with my hands zip tied around my back. He’s supposed to take a metal grinder to my knee cap and instead he used it on my genitals thru my jeans. Hitting them over and over again,”she stated.
Bella Thorne’s Troubling On-Set Memories with Mickey Rourke
Thorne and Rourke’s partnership in the horror-thriller Girl marked an unsettling chapter for the actress. Thorne suggests that events on set escalated dramatically beyond their scripted confines.
“I had bruises on my pelvic bone,”she noted. “Working with Mickey was one of the all-time worst experiences of my life working as an actress.”
In a follow-up Instagram Story, Bella shared a screenshot from a BBC article that highlighted Rourke’s offensive comments about Siwa. Thorne also detailed additional distressing moments experienced during the filming of Girl, hinting at a troubling pattern of behavior from Rourke.
She recounted an instance when Rourke intentionally embarrassed her by revving a motorcycle engine during a scene, leaving her soaked in dirt:
“Idk I guess he thought it was funny to humiliate me in front of the entire crew,”she expressed.
Another significant issue arose during production when Rourke refused to communicate with the director or producers, compelling Thorne to take the lead in convincing him to continue with the project. She described the isolation she felt:
“Having to go into his trailer absolutely alone … to convince him to show up and complete his job. In fact, I had to beg. Alone. In his trailer,”she remarked.
Despite feeling “uncomfortable,”Thorne pushed forward, knowing that the team’s work would be in vain should Rourke choose to withdraw from the film.
Concluding her thoughts, Thorne asserted, according to The Daily Beast:
“Mickey should’ve never put anybody in that movie in any of those positions that he did.”

Thorne’s claims gained traction shortly after Rourke faced criticism for his derogatory comments directed at JoJo Siwa in Celebrity Big Brother UK. Rourke, 72, controversially suggested that Siwa would “not be gay anymore”if he remained on the show, further stating, “I would vote the lesbian out real quick.”
Although Rourke issued an apology to Siwa, indicating that he bore no “dishonorable intentions,”the backlash was swift, resulting in a formal warning from the show’s producers regarding his offensive language. This sequence of events appears to have prompted Thorne to recount her negative experiences while working with Rourke.
As of now, Mickey Rourke has yet to respond to Bella Thorne’s allegations. Requests for comments directed at his representatives have gone unanswered, according to reports from Page Six.
Looking ahead, Bella Thorne is preparing to make her directorial debut with the upcoming film Color Your Hurt. She remains active in the industry, also taking part in the thriller Find Your Friends, directed by Izabel Pakzad, and an Italian superhero film entitled Bunny-Man, which features James Franco and Mike Tyson, as reported by People on November 20, 2024.
