On April 5, 2024, the South Korean boy band TXT took to the stage at the AXE Ceremonia music festival held at Parque Bicentenario in Mexico City. However, the festivities were tragically marred by a serious incident involving the collapse of a metal crane.
According to reports from local officials, around 5:30 PM, a sudden gust of wind caused the crane structure to topple, leading to the tragic deaths of two people. Despite immediate medical treatment and rapid transportation to nearby hospitals, both individuals—identified as photographers at the event—succumbed to their injuries.
In the wake of this heartbreaking incident, the local government has initiated an investigation to establish the causes of the accident and assign accountability. Consequently, the remaining performances of the festival were canceled.
Following the news of the tragic event, TXT, who had made history as the first K-pop act to perform at the festival, shared their heartfelt condolences through a post on their X account:
“We express our deepest condolences for the tragic accident that occurred during the festival. We send our heartfelt sympathy to the victims, their families, loved ones, and colleagues during this difficult time.”
