Atlanta’s police department recently made public the 911 call associated with the tragic death of rapper Young Scooter, whose real name was Kenneth Bailey. The artist died on March 28, 2025, on what should have been a celebratory occasion—his 39th birthday. Reports indicate that he sustained fatal injuries while evading police by jumping a fence.
According to a report by Fox 5, law enforcement responded to a 911 call concerning a shooting incident, wherein a woman alleged that someone had been dragged into a home located on William Nye Drive in Southeast Atlanta.
On arrival, officers observed two men exit through the back door of the residence, prompting one to flee while the other was injured in the attempt to scale a fence. Subsequently, he was transported to the Grady Marcus Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities later confirmed that the individual was Young Scooter.
Details Emerging from the 911 Call
As reported by Fox 5 on March 31, 2025, the Atlanta Police Department released the recording of the 911 call in an effort to locate the caller. During the call, the woman described a chaotic scene involving a domestic dispute and reported hearing three gunshots. Shockingly, she stated that a young girl was being held against her will:
“This girl doesn’t have on any clothes. They threw her outside, he was fighting the girl. He literally fought the girl.”
The caller, identifying as part of the “neighborhood watch,”claimed to witness a shooting at her neighbor’s house, mentioning armed men inside. She expressed concern over the young girl being restrained and revealed disturbing details about the alleged violence taking place.
Amid the tumult, she insisted that the girl was seriously injured and needed immediate assistance, saying:
“I think you guys should get here quick because this girl is… he’s really hitting her and there is a child involved. And there are like seven guys in the house and they all have guns.”
Throughout the call, the woman implied that the situation might be connected to illegal activities, including drug or human trafficking. Despite her alarming assertions, police have not yet confirmed the validity of her claims or the existence of the alleged victim. To encourage public participation, authorities have offered a $5,000 reward for any information that could identify the caller, who used a phone customized for 911 access, complicating tracing efforts.
Investigating Young Scooter’s Death: No Police Involvement Reported
Born in Walterboro, South Carolina, Young Scooter later moved to Atlanta at the tender age of nine. He achieved fame as one of the inaugural artists to sign with Future’s Freebandz record label, with popular tracks such as “Colombia”and “Street Lottery”marking his musical legacy.

On the evening of March 28, following the aforementioned 911 call, officers approached the residence where the incident transpired. According to Lt. Andrew Smith, the commander of Atlanta’s homicide unit, when police knocked, a man answered but quickly closed the door. While attempting to manage the situation, two men exited from the home’s rear. One of the men returned to the house, but the other leapt over two fences, ultimately resulting in his injury.
“He appeared to have suffered an injury to his leg,”Lt. Smith stated, confirming that officers administered aid before he was transported to Grady Hospital, where he unfortunately passed away.
It is poignant that this incident occurred on Young Scooter’s birthday, and as news of his death spread, speculation arose regarding the circumstances surrounding it, particularly the possibility of police involvement. However, Lt. Smith clarified during a media briefing, stating:
“The Atlanta Police Department has not been involved in any shootings tonight, and in the incident on William Nye—there was not a shooting at all.”
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is currently overseeing the case due to heightened public interest, and as of now, no further updates have been provided regarding the investigations.
