Ubisoft is set to roll out its first significant update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, particularly enhancing the experience for PlayStation 5 Pro users. This title update not only introduces improvements for the PS5 Pro version but also addresses numerous bugs and implements features driven by community feedback.
According to information released by Ubisoft (via Eurogamer), the 1.0.2 update will introduce PSSR—PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution—granting Raytraced Specular support in the game’s Balanced mode. Players will need to enable this option manually, enhancing visual quality to match that of the Quality mode on PS5 Pro rather than its Performance mode.
PSSR is an advanced AI-driven technology designed to optimize image clarity and facilitate ultra-high-definition gaming, offering players an immersive environment filled with remarkable detail.
The April 8 patch, scheduled to go live at 10 AM EDT, will also implement modifications across all platforms, including changes to Mastery Nodes, the Investigation Board, and adjustments in horse speeds.
Enhancements Inspired by Player Feedback
Ubisoft’s Commitment to Community Engagement

Despite achieving the second-largest launch in the franchise’s history, Assassin’s Creed Shadows faced challenges, particularly regarding its PC version. In response, Ubisoft is committed to actively listening to player input and addressing their concerns. The forthcoming update reflects this dedication by integrating several features requested by the community.
A standout enhancement within the April 8 patch is the return of the beloved “follow path”feature from earlier games. Additionally, mounts will now inherently navigate roads to preset destinations. Players will also have the ability to reset Naoe and Yasuke’s Mastery Nodes within the skill trees, allowing them to experiment with various playstyles. Furthermore, the update includes quality-of-life improvements, such as enabling players to sell and dismantle multiple items simultaneously at merchant interactions and the Hideout Forge. Lastly, players can access the Investigation Board more conveniently by holding down the “Option”button for a few moments.
Visual Upgrades Making a Beautiful Game Even Better
The Pinnacle of Visual Excellence

The artistry and realism exhibited in Assassin’s Creed Shadows are already well-established, but the new update further enhances its visual appeal, especially for those using the PS5 Pro. This update harnesses the PS5 Pro’s advanced ray-tracing capabilities, delivering superior lighting effects that set it apart from the standard PS5. When combined with the adaptive PSSR feature, players can expect the visuals to reach unprecedented levels of beauty.
The 1.0.2 update also abolishes the 30 FPS limit within Hideouts while using Performance mode. Additionally, it balances boss fights, enhances Double Assassinations, and improves the responsiveness of Naoe. Coupled with a host of bug fixes, this update heralds a promising future for Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
