Assassin’s Creed Shadows Update: Director Reveals Exciting Upcoming Features

Since its release earlier this month, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has captivated over 3 million players with its immersive depiction of 16th century Feudal Japan. Despite achieving the second-largest launch in the franchise’s history, the game faced several challenges, particularly on the PC platform. In response, Ubisoft is dedicated to enhancing the overall player experience through a combination of minor adjustments and significant updates.

In an interview with GamesRadar+, Jonathon Dumont, the creative director of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, shared insights on the upcoming post-launch support. He emphasized that the development team is “always listening and monitoring player feedback”to address bugs and implement meaningful changes. While specific enhancements remain under wraps, Dumont assured players that they would notice improvements in the game experience in the months ahead.

In addition to addressing bugs, Dumont hinted at the possible introduction of a harder difficulty setting. He mentioned that developers are considering options for players seeking a more intense challenge, stating: “we are actively looking into making an even tougher difficulty for some of our players.”Currently, Assassin’s Creed Shadows features several customizable difficulty levels—Story, Forgiving, Normal, and Expert—that can be tailored for both combat and stealth, allowing players to engage with the game at their preferred level of difficulty.

Dumont further engaged the community by asking hardcore fans, “How challenging do you want it?”indicating that player feedback will play a crucial role in shaping future updates.

Even with its multiple difficulty settings, some players feel that even the hardest mode does not provide enough of a challenge. A proposed “ultra-hard” difficulty could meet the needs of more skilled players while accommodating casual gamers who are more interested in exploring the game’s narrative and beautifully crafted Feudal Japan setting. Given the variety of enemy types, it remains to be seen how this new difficulty level would impact encounters and gameplay dynamics.

Apart from difficulty issues, there are known concerns regarding bugs, glitches, and graphical performance that are expected to be resolved in upcoming patches. Our review highlighted specific lighting problems that hindered the visual experience. Nonetheless, the promise of ongoing post-launch support and a substantial expansion planned for later this year offers hope for significant progress. With these updates, players can anticipate an ever-evolving experience in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, allowing them to engage with the rich world of Feudal Japan more fully.
