Assassin’s Creed Shadows Guide: Completing the Nagahama Black Powder Main Quest

The Nagahama Black Powder main quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows revolves around themes of sabotage and stealth. Players are tasked with preventing the Shinbakufu from annihilating the Teppo Factory. This mission becomes accessible after you complete the A Talk with a Lady quest, requiring players to investigate the area, infiltrate a warship, and carefully plant a bomb.

Both characters available can undertake this quest, yet leveraging stealth makes the journey significantly smoother. Therefore, Naoe is particularly well-suited for this mission due to their stealth advantages.

Your first objective is to reach the Nagahama Teppo Factory located on the western edge of the city. This area is hostile, so you should prepare for some resistance, although security isn’t overwhelmingly intense. Expect to sneak through or, if necessary, eliminate enemies to advance.

While inside, look for three essential documents:

  • Shiotsu Convoy Note: Situated at the front of the first house in the northern part of the factory.
  • A Bounty on Their Heads: Located a bit further south within the adjacent row of houses.
  • The Nagahama Plot: Found on a high deck overlooking the water.

Once you have gathered the necessary intel, make your way to the atakebune (a formidable warship) either by taking a boat or swimming across the bay. The optimal entry point is on the northeast side where a ladder provides easy access.

Upon boarding, utilize the grappling hook to ascend to the top of the mast. Be mindful of patrolling guards, but if you act swiftly, reaching the top should not pose a significant challenge. After this, leap onto the nearest rooftop and enter through an open window where a solitary guard watches over the area. Eliminate him quietly.

At the far end of the ship, you will encounter two enemies near your objective. You have a couple of options here:

  1. Silently take them out before they can raise an alarm.
  2. Wait for one of them to patrol away before planting the bomb unnoticed.

Even if the situation escalates, reinforcements will be minimal, making it manageable to escape confrontation.

Step 3: Exiting the Atakebune

After successfully planting the bomb, there’s no need to engage in combat. Simply dive off the ship into the water. Upon making contact with the water surface, a cutscene will initiate, concluding the Nagahama Black Powder main quest within Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
