To begin the Dress for Success quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, locate a merchant who specializes in traditional clothing. Speak with her, and she will indicate that she can create a kosode if she obtains the required materials.

However, the merchant informs you that local pirates have been causing disruptions, particularly impacting silk suppliers. Your next step is to track down the pirates and reclaim the silk.

Follow the quest markers to reach the docks, where you will find three imposing ships. You must find a stealthy way to board one of them, either by swimming or using a smaller boat to avoid detection.

The silk you need is housed on the largest ship, heavily guarded by pirates. Employ all your skills as an assassin to circumvent conflict and prevent triggering alarm.

Most pirates patrol the front area of the ship; thus, a silent approach via the sides may yield the best results. If you are uncertain about your next move, consider ascending to a higher vantage point to survey the environment.

Retrieving the Stolen Silk

Once aboard, refrain from engaging each pirate individually. Stealth is critical, as these enemies can quickly overwhelm you. Instead, use the surrounding environment to your advantage; explosive barrels are located nearby, which can be detonated from a distance.

While lesser pirate foes are manageable, be cautious of tougher brutes. If you choose to confront them directly, a surprise attack with your katana can give you an advantage. However, Naoe’s training as a Shinobi assassin should be your primary strategy over brute force.

After strategically dispatching the pirates, make your way to the center of the ship where you’ll discover a locked chest containing the silk. Once secured, you can retrace your steps back to shore.

This quest is effectively a fetch mission, intended to assist local residents afflicted by the pirate threat. Upon returning to the merchant, she will be delighted to hear of your success and can begin creating your new kosode.

Dress to Impress: The Successful Conclusion

Upon your return, the merchant will offer you two exquisite options for your kosode:

  • Black Portuguese silk
  • Red Chinese silk

Both selections are suitable for the upcoming tea ceremony, and your choice will not affect any subsequent missions.

Having mastered the essentials of tea etiquette from Sen No Rikyu in the previous quest, Naoe is now fully prepared to continue her mission of infiltration into the tea ceremony.
