Popular Twitch streamer and political commentator Zack “Asmongold”recently shared his views on a controversial video circulating online. The footage reportedly captures a group identified as “Ivy League students”engaging in the act of burning a large Israeli flag, which sparked significant debate in the online community.
An unexpected twist occurred during the flag-burning incident when the flames wrapped around one of the individuals holding the flag, causing them to catch fire. Observing this, Asmongold humorously remarked on the alarming lack of basic fire safety knowledge, commenting:
“You’re telling me they’re in an Ivy League school but they don’t know how to stop, drop and roll? I thought you learned that in first grade.”
As the conversation progressed, a viewer characterized the act of flag burning as a “hate crime.”Asmongold was quick to express his skepticism towards this classification, asserting:
“That’s a hate crime? It’s not a… I don’t want it to be a hate- You think I want it to be a hate crime, for lighting up an Israel flag? I don’t give a f**k about this sh**. It’s a f**king flag!”
A Commentary on Public Conduct
Continuing his discourse, Asmongold addressed the implications of the incident on public safety and legality. He stated that while starting a fire in a public space might not be advisable, he does not believe that criminal charges are warranted for such behavior:
“Now, you could say, maybe you shouldn’t be starting a fire in a public space. I think, that’s fair. But I don’t want to put this clown in jail, over f**king this, absolutely not.”
Asmongold’s commentary comes in the context of his rise to prominence within political streaming in recent weeks, coinciding with heightened discussions about the ongoing violence in Gaza. His outspoken views have landed him in hot water before; in fact, he faced a ban from Twitch for his remarks relating to the Israel-Gaza conflict in October 2024.
Additionally, Asmongold recently expressed his support for Ethan Klein, host of the H3 Podcast, following Klein’s allegations of harassment by social media users who had falsely reported him to child protective services for alleged mistreatment of his children.
