On March 27, Twitch streamer Zack “Asmongold,”known for analyzing internet controversies, commented on a conflict involving YouTubers Mutahar “SomeOrdinaryGamers”and Noah Samsen. This discussion arose in light of Mutahar’s consideration of legal action against Samsen, prompted by the latter’s provocative video titled The YouTubers Who Backed a Genocide, which prominently featured Mutahar.
The central issue is that SomeOrdinaryGamers took serious offense at his portrayal, particularly the implication that he supports genocide. This allegation extended to other notable creators, including H3H3’s Ethan Klein and Kick streamer Destiny, which intensified the matter.
Serious Allegations and Accountability
During his discussion, Asmongold emphasized the gravity of the accusations levied by Samsen, suggesting that they should not be dismissed as mere “drama.” He asserted that calling someone a supporter of genocide is categorically different from more trivial criticisms, stating:
“Calling someone a supporter of genocide is a very different thing than saying somebody’s career is cooked or saying that somebody fell off… one of them is a real legitimate thing where people are bad. The fact is that, this is totally different than drama slop, this is completely different.”
As the stream progressed, Asmongold noticed a surge of discussion in his chat. Addressing this, he chose to abstain from entering debates concerning the Israel-Palestine conflict, citing his lack of expertise on the subject. He expressed his reluctance thus:
“Chat’s popping off? I don’t want to argue about this and fight about it with the f**king Israel-Palestine… I’m not an expert on the topic, so, y’know, if you wanna argue about that, there’s plenty of people you can talk to.”
It’s important to note that in October 2024, Asmongold faced suspension from Twitch due to controversial statements made during a live stream, where he reportedly made insensitive remarks about Palestinians and their culture.
Demand for Accountability
Asmongold strongly advocated for accountability regarding the claims made by Samsen, indicating the severity of the allegations against SomeOrdinaryGamers. He remarked:
“So, my point is that… I do think people who make up bullsh*t like this probably do need to have a degree of accountability, especially if they’re making claims like that you’re a supporter of genocide.”
He further elaborated on the weight of such accusations, noting that they do not stem from spontaneous thoughts:
“I think that this is a very extreme claim to make. It’s not like you just say this out of the blue, right? And because of that, I do think there should be some degree of accountability for it.”
Additonally, Ethan Klein criticized Noah Samsen for his actions, accusing him of idolizing HasanAbi—a pro-Palestine Twitch streamer—with whom Klein has an ongoing feud due to their differing political stances.
