Asmongold Critiques Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Claims Other Reviews Are Unfair and Biased

Streaming sensation Zack “Asmongold”has recently shared his thoughts on Assassin’s Creed Shadows, assigning the game a rating of 6 out of 10 after completing his playthrough. During a live session, he voiced strong criticism towards fellow reviewers, suggesting that many have approached their assessments with bias and have provided ratings that are excessively polarized.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20, 2025, and since the early reviews began circulating, the gaming community has been engrossed in a heated debate regarding its strengths and weaknesses. Asmongold’s commentary has sparked discussions, particularly among those who feel his perspective is overly dismissive of the game’s merits.

After his gameplay experience, Asmongold firmly asserted that his score is not just reasonable but represents the only fair evaluation. He argued:

“The problem is everybody is rating this in these extremes. I am the only person that’s fair, everybody else isn’t fair. Everybody else is biased. It’s only me that knows the right score and it’s a six, all right? The game is a six.”

Continuing his critique, Asmongold remarked that while he could accept varied opinions, he found scores such as 3/10 or 8/10 to be “invalid.”His rationale was clear:

“You think it’s a five, that’s fine. You think it’s a seven, that’s fine. It’s not an eight and it’s not, I don’t know maybe it’s a four, it’s not a three. It’s not a three and it’s not an eight. Those opinions are invalid. Why is that? Because I decided that and I’m right!”

Allegations of Dishonest Reviews in the Gaming Community

Asmongold’s critical stance extends beyond just his rating. He has actively engaged with discussions around Assassin’s Creed Shadows, particularly focusing on the reactions from players following its release. In previous critiques, he targeted Ubisoft for its game pricing, but his latest comments primarily address the post-launch reception.

Following his own review, he expressed frustration regarding user-generated reviews on platforms such as Google and Metacritic, accusing numerous players of “review bombing”without genuinely engaging with the game:

“With a lot of these video games, they get reviewbombed and it’s by people that haven’t played the game, that don’t know anything about the game, that play it for 0.1 hours on Steam and then they immediately refund it and say it’s bad. And I’m sorry. Every review is valid and I’m not saying that they have no right to review it, but don’t expect me to take that seriously, that’s all that’s my only point!”

Additionally, he criticized those labeling the game a perfect score, particularly a 5 out of 5, expressing his disbelief in such evaluations:

“And I think the exact same thing with the fives; the game is not a five. If you think Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a five out of five, you’re a… well, let’s just say I disagree strongly. No, it’s not a five! But it’s not a one either.”

Despite recognizing the diversity of opinions, Asmongold reiterated his belief that extreme reviews lacked sincerity, implying that many reviewers had made their judgments before truly experiencing the game:

“I am acknowledging not everybody has to have a seven or a six like I do. But it’s not a nine. It’s not a 10. And it’s not a one either. Can we just acknowledge the dishonesty in these reviews? These are people who made up their minds on the game before they even played it.”

Interestingly, performance metrics indicate that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is faring well against its predecessors. As of the current reporting, it achieved a remarkable peak of over 64,000 concurrent players on Steam, suggesting a significant level of engagement within the community.
