Overview of Dishonored 3 Developments
- Raphaël Colantonio expresses interest in a possible Dishonored 3 but is currently focused on his new project at WolfEye Studios.
- Documentation for a third installment exists, yet its release seems doubtful as key developers have left Arkane Studios.
- Arkane Studios is presently dedicated to developing Marvel’s Blade, further delaying any potential Dishonored sequel.
Raphaël Colantonio, the founder of Arkane Studios, has shared his thoughts on the prospect of creating a third game in the beloved Dishonored series. Although he departed from Arkane in 2017 to establish WolfEye Studios, Colantonio retains a fondness for the Dishonored franchise.
The initial Dishonored game arrived in 2012, followed by its critically acclaimed sequel in 2016. Both titles are celebrated for their innovative approach to gameplay, combining action and stealth elements while allowing players to explore various solutions to challenges within a uniquely captivating gothic setting. Despite being one of the standout stealth franchises, the series has lain dormant since the release of the 2017 spin-off, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider. While Arkane’s 2021 game, Deathloop, shared the same universe, it was not marketed as part of the primary franchise.
Colantonio’s Enthusiasm for Dishonored 3
In a recent appearance on the Quad Damage podcast, Colantonio expressed, “I’d love to [work on Dishonored 3]. We’re in a totally hypothetical situation right now… It has been so long; why not revisit the idea?”However, players should temper their hopes regarding a new installment. Currently, Colantonio is absorbed in projects at WolfEye Studios, and there are no indications of his return to Arkane Studios, making his comments largely conjectural.

Colantonio further elaborated on the conceptual groundwork for Dishonored 3, revealing, “I have a document detailing ideas for Dishonored 3. Harvey [Smith] also has one, along with Dinga [Bakaba], the current head of Arkane. While we certainly have concepts, discussing them now is premature. Determining which version of the game could potentially materialize feels almost like science fiction at this point.”

With both Harvey Smith and Raphaël Colantonio no longer affiliated with Arkane, the likelihood of their concepts for Dishonored 3 ever seeing the light of day is minimal. Currently, Arkane is fully engaged in the development of Marvel’s Blade, which was announced in late 2023. While there is always a possibility of revisiting the gothic stealth-action formula of Dishonored, the wait for a mainline sequel that currently spans nine years may very well extend into a decade or longer.
