Ahn Hyo-seop Set to Star in New Romantic Comedy Series ‘Today, Sold Out’

Ahn Hyo-seop is making his much-anticipated return to the romantic comedy genre with the upcoming series titled Today, Sold Out (tentative), according to a report from South Korean media outlet Ize, published on March 17, 2025. This romantic comedy is being helmed by director Ahn Jong-yeon, known for his work on Gangmaegang, with the script penned by newcomer Jin Seung-hee.

Scheduled to air on SBS in 2026, Today, Sold Out will be produced by Beyond J, the same company behind hits like I Know>, Murderer’s Shopping List, Somebody, and Chunhwa Love Story.

The story centers around two ambitious individuals grappling with personal emotional gaps. As they navigate their careers, their unexpected connection leads them toward healing and love, setting the stage for an engaging storytelling experience.

Ahn Hyo-seop’s Role in Today, Sold Out

Ahn Hyo-seop plays the character Matthew Lee, an enigmatic farmer whose life intertwines with Dam Ye-jin, a show host plagued by chronic insomnia. The series promises a blossoming romance as both characters learn to heal through their connection. Casting for Ye-jin’s character is currently underway, with several prominent stars under consideration.

In addition to this exciting project, Ahn Hyo-seop is set to make his film debut in Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, scheduled for release in July 2025, expanding his repertoire in the entertainment industry.

Exploring Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint

The film adaptation of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, directed by Kim Byung-woo, is drawing considerable attention. Based on the immensely popular Naver web novel that has attracted over 200 million views since its launch in 2018, this film is highly anticipated by fans.

In this narrative, Ahn Hyo-seop portrays Kim Dok-ja, an ordinary office worker and the sole reader of a long-running fantasy novel, Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World. After the story concludes, his mundane life takes a thrilling turn when reality morphs into the novel’s chaotic universe.

As the only person privy to the unfolding drama, Kim Dok-ja embarks on a risky adventure to save humanity. He teams up with the story’s hero, Yoo Jung-hyuk (played by Lee Min-ho), a powerful fighter who experiences a cycle of death and resurrection.

Produced by Realize Pictures and supported by Smilegate, the film features a stellar cast. Lee Min-ho takes on the role of Yoo Jung-hyuk, while Ahn Hyo-seop steps into the shoes of Kim Dok-ja. Chae Soo-bin also stars as Yoo Sang-ah, who quickly adapts to the apocalyptic challenges alongside Dok-ja.

Moreover, the ensemble includes Shin Seung-ho as Lee Hyun-seong, a tough ex-soldier, and Nana as Jung Hee-won, a courageous warrior fighting for justice. Park Ho-san plays Gong Pil-doo, a manipulative villain, while Choi Young-joon portrays Han Myeong-oh, Dok-ja’s boss. Notably, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo makes an appearance as Lee Ji-hye, a formidable ally to Yoo Jung-hyuk.

Currently, Ahn Hyo-seop has yet to make an official statement regarding his exciting new role in Today, Sold Out.
