Scheduled to premiere on January 26, the new SBS drama “Flex X Cop” depicts the ‘FLEX’ investigation led by a third-generation heir to a conglomerate who becomes a powerful detective.
The new series, which will air every Friday and Saturday on SBS, is expected to continue the success of previous hits like “The Fiery Priest” , “One Dollar Lawyer” , “Taxi Drive” , and “One the Woman” .
Here, Ahn Bo-hyun takes on the role of Jin Yi-soo, a carefree third-generation heir to a conglomerate who transforms into a detective, creating an unprecedented detective character.
In the drama, Ahn Bo-hyun will unleash a refreshing and innovative “FLEX” investigation, utilizing his vast wealth, extensive connections, quick wit, and various activity skills acquired while having fun.
Ahn Bo-hyun expressed, “‘Jin Yi-soo’ can be cheeky, but he possesses an irresistible charm. The drama is filled with refreshing elements that make impossible things possible, so I think viewers can feel a delightful sense of fun.”
Regarding his decision to appear in “Flex X Cop” , Ahn Bo-hyun said, “It was my second collaboration with writer Kim Ba-da, who I worked with on ‘My Name’. The script was very interesting, and the character was charming, so I wanted to express it well.”
“In addition, I wanted to create a good synergy thanks to director Kim Jae-hong’s energy, and there was no reason not to appear because it was an opportunity to work with valuable connections, including the cinematographer whom I worked with on my debut film ‘Hiya'” , the actor also added.
This marks Ahn Bo-hyun’s second collaboration with his co-star Park Ji-hyun (playing female lead Lee Kang-hyun). Regarding this reunion, Ahn Bo-hyun stated, “I felt very comfortable and received a lot of positive energy from her the first time we worked together on ‘Yumi’s Cells.’ I think we can show a different chemistry than what we showed in ‘Yumi’s Cells.'”
Reflecting on the process of creating the unprecedented detective Jin Yi-soo, Ahn Bo-hyun discussed with the staff all character aspects, from hairstyle to costume.
“In fact, I thought that Yi-soo and I didn’t have many similarities because he is always intense. However, in my efforts to show Yi-soo’s unique bright side, I felt that I became more similar to him” , the actor confessed.
Lastly, Ahn Bo-hyun believes that the highlight of “Flex X Cop” is the thrilling sight of Jin Yi-soo flexing and catching criminals in each episode.
“I think the refreshing scenes where Jin Yi-soo flexes and captures criminals in each episode might be the point of “Flex X Cop” . In the teaser that was previously released, every scene where Yi-soo uses his wealth in the investigation, such as helicopters and boats, was intriguing” , he said.
On the other hand, Ahn Bo-hyun and BLACKPINK’s Jisoo confirmed their romantic relationship, but broke up just a couple months later.
“Flex X Cop” is actually Ahn Bo-hyun’s 1st project after the breakup.
