‘After Midnight’ Concludes After Two Successful Seasons on CBS

CBS Makes Changes to Late-Night Lineup

CBS is realigning its late-night schedule, announcing a significant change that involves the cancellation of the show After Midnight. The network revealed on Wednesday that the show will conclude after its second season, despite a previous renewal for a third. Host Taylor Tomlinson has opted to refocus her efforts on her stand-up comedy career and touring commitments.

The series finale is slated to air in June, and CBS has confirmed that it will not introduce new programming to fill the 12:35 a.m. time slot in the upcoming season.

“Hosting After Midnight has genuinely been the experience of a lifetime, and I’ll be forever grateful for the opportunity to be part of this incredible journey. Though it was an extremely tough decision, I knew I had to return to my first passion and return to stand-up touring full-time,” Tomlinson expressed in her statement. “I appreciate CBS, [executive producer] Stephen Colbert, the producers, and the entire After Midnight staff and crew for all the love, support, and unforgettable memories.”

“I want to thank CBS for their constant support and invaluable partnership on After Midnight, and the whole staff for their amazing dedication. While we were excited and grateful for our third season to start in the fall, we respect Taylor’s decision to return to stand-up full time,” Colbert commented.

Launched in January 2024, After Midnight succeeded The Late Late Show With James Corden, airing in the time slot following The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. The show featured Tomlinson leading a lineup of comedians in a creative panel format, engaging in games centered on trending internet topics and pop culture.

As CBS navigates this shift in its late-night programming, fans and followers can expect further updates soon. The decision underscores the evolving landscape of late-night television where hosts are increasingly drawn to pursue their original passions.
