aespa Giselle Disfavored? MYs Draw Flak Against Haircare Brand for ‘Excluding’ Member

Fans vented their frustration over haircare brand Mise en Scรจne for its “discrimination”towards Giselle.

Here’s what happened.

Mise en Scรจne Under Fire from MYs for ‘Excluding’ Giselle in Brand Promotions

Earlier on February 28, haircare brand Mise en Scรจne officially announced that aespa members have now become its newest models.

It uploaded numerous photos on its official SNS and site, flaunting each of the member’s visuals that beautifully resonated with the brand’s identity and style.

Campaign photos showed each member promoting products from the brand with elegance and gracefulness. Members Karina, Winter, Giselle, and NingNing engaged in group content, as well as individual shoots.

Unfortunately, Mise en Scรจne came under fire from MYs, as the brand was accused of discriminating against Giselle. On its website, the products were individually advertised by the members, but Giselle was nowhere to be found.

This sparked a protest among MYs, leading to an online community titled, “aespa’s Mise en Scรจne campaign criticized for its current discrimination.”

If you look at their official homepage, there’s not a single individual shot of Giselle,”OP claimed.

This was followed by enraged netizens, who expressed their anger with the brand for not giving Giselle a solo feature and reminded it that aespa is a four-membered group.

Read their comments below:

  • “They have four members, you really have to suck at your job to omit one of them like that.”
  • “People need to experience this once in their lives to know how upsetting this can be… Why are they doing this?”
  • “The professional world is just cruel.”
  • “If they’re gonna use idols as their models, shouldn’t they at least treat their models well? Their fans are at stake here.”
  • “So why not just sponsor two members if they’re gonna do this?”

However, some were neutral regarding the situation, saying that it can’t be helped in the advertising field.

  • “But in reality, they sign the contract with an agreement to act like this already. This reminds me of another group. 9 times out of 10, there will be some division.”
  • “Advertisers are like that, you can’t help it. It’s not like the agency can do anything about it.”
  • “That’s just what the advertisers want, what can we do? It’s a matter of profit.”
  • “No, but are they aespa’s fanclub? They pay them for the advertising, of course they can do whatever they want.”

International fans were disappointed with the brand nevertheless, saying how rude it was for Mise en Scรจne to leave out Giselle’s solo shoot.

  • “That’s rude to do a campaign with the group and not do a solo shoot for only one member.”
  • “One picture of NingNing and none of Giselle? Why bother even signing a contract with the whole group i can’t imagine how the girls feel being left out.”
  • “This what happens when agencies force solo cfs into group cfs.”
  • “The brand probably wants specific members but has to take the whole group, so of course they’re going to make the popular members take the focus.”
