Happy Gilmore 2: The Comeback of an Iconic Character
After nearly thirty years of golfing absence, the beloved character Happy Gilmore is set to make a triumphant return to the links in the highly anticipated sequel, Happy Gilmore 2.
Netflix unveiled the first teaser trailer for this direct follow-up to Adam Sandler’s 1996 comedy classic, reigniting excitement among fans of the original film. In the new installment, we find Gilmore, a hockey player who unexpectedly rose to fame in the golf world, preparing to reclaim his golfing prowess after years away from the sport.
“I haven’t swung a club in years,” Gilmore confesses in the trailer, depicting his challenge of competing against some of today’s top athletes.
Virginia Venit, portrayed by Julie Bowen, emphasizes the emotional connection to the character by stating, “We’re not done with golf. Let them see the Happy I fell in love with.” This highlights a strong narrative that promises to resonate with both new audiences and long-time fans alike.

Star-Studded Cameos and Authentic Golfing Talent
Fans can look forward to a plethora of cameos from recognizable stars. Notable appearances will include football sensation Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, renowned musician Bad Bunny, the iconic Eminem, and Ben Stiller, who is likely reprising his memorable, albeit uncredited role from the first film.
Additionally, the sequel aims to inject authenticity into its golfing scenes, featuring professional golfers like Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau. Pro Shop Studios, who partnered with Happy Madison for this project, played a crucial role in securing these talented athletes.
Chad Mumm, founder of Pro Shop, shared insights with The Hollywood Reporter: “Happy Madison reached out to us about helping to get a bunch of golfers to come to the movie and make the golf a lot more authentic… I think Adam [Sandler’s] experience doing [his 2022 basketball film] Hustle and really making basketball authentic in that movie, he wanted to bring some of that energy to Happy Gilmore.”
Mumm further revealed that the goal was to showcase golfing authenticity while incorporating both contemporary and legendary golfers into the film. This commitment to realism is expected to enhance the humor and excitement for audiences.
