On March 24, 2025, Kodansha’s Monthly Dessert magazine announced that Megumi Morino’s A Condition Called Love manga will conclude in just three chapters. Notably, the series will take a brief hiatus in the upcoming April issue, scheduled for release on April 24, 2025.
Serialized since December 2017, Morino’s romantic shojo manga has captivated audiences and is currently compiled into 16 tankobon volumes. Since 2020, Kodansha USA has been responsible for its English-language publication.
Closure of Hinase and Hananoi’s Journey
The May issue of the magazine, which includes the 69th chapter of the series, revealed that only three chapters remain, culminating with chapter 72. As the series approaches its end, Megumi Morino took to their official X (formerly Twitter) account to share insights about the future of the manga:
“Chapter 69 of ‘Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai’ is in the May issue of Dessert, which went on sale today. I’m relieved to have finally made it this far. Volume 17, scheduled for release in May, will include up to this chapter. There are only three chapters left of the main story, but I’ll tell you in advance that I’m planning on drawing a lot of spinoffs, so please bear with me a little longer.”
This announcement hints at exciting developments for fans, as they can anticipate spin-off stories featuring characters from the beloved original narrative. While details on these spin-offs remain under wraps, they promise to enrich the universe that Morino has created.
The series has seen a significant surge in popularity since its anime adaptation produced by East Fish Studio. The 12-episode series aired from April to June 2024 and was streamed on Crunchyroll during its release in Japan, further broadening its reach.
