A Boruto Character Who Desperately Requires Orochimaru’s Mentorship (And It’s Not Mitsuki)

The Boruto series continues to captivate audiences by seamlessly weaving together familiar and new characters. Among these fresh faces, Jura, the leader of the Shinju, has notably captured viewers’ attention in the latest arc, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, where he demonstrates a unique presence that often overshadows the titular character.

While Boruto and Jura shine in this new narrative, two characters that began with significant potential are Kawaki and Mitsuki. Mitsuki’s allure is tied to his intriguing lineage as Orochimaru’s son, while Kawaki has unfortunately seen his character lose depth over time. In contrast to his previously multifaceted persona in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, he now struggles to connect with fans, prompting some devoted supporters to yearn for a training arc that could revitalize his narrative.

A rejuvenating training arc for Kawaki might not only restore his appeal but could also herald the return of one of the series’ most enigmatic figures, Orochimaru. The Legendary Sannin has remained largely absent from the storyline amidst the Otsutsuki developments, which feels unusual given his reputation as a pioneer in ninja science. Many fans speculate that Orochimaru could step into the mentor role for Kawaki, particularly as Amado’s role appears to be waning. Read on to explore this intriguing possibility.

Why Orochimaru Should Mentor Kawaki in Boruto

In the current narrative, Boruto and Kawaki play contrasting roles as both protagonists and antagonists; however, their developmental arcs are uneven. Boruto has benefitted from extensive training under mentors like Naruto, Sasuke, and Kashin Koji, who collectively embody the principles of the ninja. This guidance has contributed to Boruto’s emergence as a standout character within the Narutoverse.

Conversely, Kawaki’s journey has suffered from lackluster execution, which has hindered his growth. He represents a challenge to the traditional ninja ethos, characterized by his solitary nature. In a society that values teamwork and collaboration, Kawaki’s existence challenges these norms, positioning him as an anomaly.

Interestingly, a character who aligns closely with Kawaki’s philosophy is Orochimaru. The Sannin epitomizes a thirst for power and is driven by individual ambition rather than collective goals.

A potential encounter between Kawaki and Orochimaru could greatly enrich the series, offering a contemporary take on the iconic rivalry between Jiraiya and Orochimaru while also adding layers to Kawaki’s character. Both characters share a desire for unparalleled strength without adhering to traditional training methods. While Kawaki seeks to assert his dominance in the Narutoverse, his powers of Karma and Shinjutsu may soon prove insufficient against formidable opponents like Jura. It has been suggested that Amado might enhance his abilities in forthcoming chapters of Two Blue Vortex, but will that be adequate for him to eclipse Jura’s presence?

A significant advantage for Kawaki could emerge from Orochimaru’s extensive knowledge in Senjutsu. Currently, in the Narutoverse, effective strategies against the formidable ten-tails involve utilizing Senjutsu techniques. Notably, Mitsuki is currently the only character able to harness Senjutsu, showcasing Orochimaru’s influences within the saga. If Kawaki were to train with Orochimaru, mastering Senjutsu could exponentially amplify his combat effectiveness.

Conclusion

The idea of Orochimaru mentoring Kawaki aligns beautifully with the thematic inversions present in Two Blue Vortex. Should Orochimaru transition to a more heroic role within Konoha, he could convince himself that his actions contribute to a greater cause.

Nonetheless, his involvement may inadvertently lead to catastrophic consequences within the ninja world. The relationship between Kawaki and Orochimaru carries the potential for tragic outcomes, possibly culminating in the Sannin’s demise.
