Discord has finally revealed the return of one of the most popular mobile app features that was removed after the launch of their new layout.
Discord launched its current mobile layout back on December 5, 2023, and users quickly took to social media to share their distaste for the update.
Users were cancelling their Discord Nitro subscriptions in droves, and the company has been quiet about bringing back some of the most requested features from the old layout in the months since.
That is, until March 5, 2024, when they revealed the upcoming return of a sought-after swipe gesture.
Discord re-enables swipe to view member list
In the patch notes of Discord’s latest app update, the company revealed that they are rolling out the ability to replace the new swipe to reply gesture with a left swipe to access the member list of whatever servers you’re in.
“You can Swipe to View Members… again! We heard from you that the new mobile update made it hard to see who’s in the conversation, so we’re pushing out a change to restore the swipe gesture to View Members. If you like replying with swipes, you can turn it back on in User Settings. Yay, options,” they said.
Those who want to keep replying with the swipe gesture will be able to turn that feature back on in the User Settings of your mobile app.

Users quickly took to social media once Discord pushed the patch notes live in app, and many are excited for the return of the swipe gesture.
“Thank you Discord for the update. We’ve been asking,” one user said.
Another said: “Finally Discord has listened to its mobile users and are restoring swipe for members list. Was so frustrating to see members and being able to see who are,” another commented.
However, others were unable to find the feature — and mention of it has been removed from the in-app Whats New section. We’ve reached out to Discord to figure out what’s going on and will update you should they respond.
