Bethesda continues to iterate on Starfield with tweaks and improvements tackling minor issues and bigger, game-changing adjustments.
The next planned patch will handle smaller things by addressing quality-of-life changes, bug fixes, and the like.
Notably, the studio plans to release the update in a Steam Beta first. Participants can expect the changes to go live on Wednesday, March 6. Patch notes should launch around the same time, but Bethesda has shared a basic overview with fans.
What to expect from Starfield’s March 6 Steam Beta update
The official Bethesda Game Studios Twitter account has confirmed that Starfield’s next patch will enter Steam Beta on March 6.
According to the post, the new update primarily focuses on QoL-based fixes, meaning users shouldn’t expect any major tweaks.

Highlights from the update point out the following upcoming changes:
- Adding expressions to photo mode! Now you can make your character and your companions match the mood of your shot – and Vasco is getting some new poses, too.
- We’re improving the scanner so you can continue to use it to monitor the world around you while harvesting resources or opening doors.
- Ready for your next mission? Setting course on an inactive mission will now make it active!
- We also tracked down the elusive David Barron, who had mysteriously been unavailable at the SSNN for many players in “Sabotage.”
- Other fixes include an issue causing the player’s head to turn left while sprinting and some issues preventing Starborn Temples from appearing correctly, among many others.
Full patch notes for Starfield’s March 6 Steam Beta update will arrive sometime next week. As for when the patch will become available for all players, Bethesda has yet to announce.
