Helioptile is coming back to Pokemon Go for the Charged Up Research Day. If you’re wondering how you can get this cute dual Electric/Normal-type creature, we’ve got all the answers you need right here, including whether or not you’ll be able to find its Shiny version.
Over 10 years ago, the Kalos region from Pokemon X&Y added 72 new Pokemon to the franchise, and even though we can encounter plenty of them in Pokemon Go, some can be a little harder to find or have a low catch rate, like Helioptile.
This dual Electric/Normal-type Pokemon was introduced to the mobile game in 2022, but its Shiny version was added a year after that.
Now, thanks to the Charged Up Research Day featuring very well-known Electric-type Pokemon, players will have more chances of getting a Helioptile on March 3, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time
If you still haven’t gotten this tiny creature or are yet to evolve it into Heliolisk, here’s all the information you need.

Helioptile is coming back for a pure Electric-type event.
How to get Helioptile in Pokemon Go
There are four ways you can catch Helioptile in the game:
- As an encounter out in the wild.
- In special 7 km Eggs.
- In Tier 1 Raid battles.
- As a reward for completing event-exclusive Field Research tasks.
The easiest way to get a Helioptile is to encounter it in the wild, although you can’t guarantee you’ll find one this way. Using Incense or Lure Modules on PokeStops should help speed up the process.
Completing event-exclusive Field Research tasks may be a more sure-fire way of getting a Helioptile, and there’s always a chance that a Heloptile will be offered as a reward for completing Timed Research, too.
During the Charged Up Research Day, Electric-themed tasks will be available at PokeStops, so players can get an increased chance of finding a Helioptile by completing them.
Additionally, players can increase their odds by buying an event-exclusive Timed Research ticket.
Can Helioptile be Shiny in Pokemon Go?
Yes, Helioptile can be Shiny in Pokemon Go. Even though this Pokemon debuted in 2022, its Shiny version didn’t make it to the game until a year after, during the Crackling Voltage event.
Now, during the Charged Up Research Day, the chances of finding a Shiny Helioptile will increase, so it’s the perfect time to go out on a hunt.

How to evolve Helioptile into Heliolisk
You’ll need 50 Candy and a Sun Stone to evolve Helioptile into Heliolisk. Getting 50 Candy shouldn’t take you too long, but using Pinap Berries and transferring Heloptile can help you acquire Candy faster.
If you don’t have a spare Sun Stone in your inventory, we’ve got a handy Sun Stone guide that should help you find one.
Once you’ve got enough Candy and a Sun Stone, you simply need to choose your favorite Helioptile, taking into account their stats, then tap on the ‘Evolve’ button and watch the animation.
