As Pokemon Go players participate in the Road to Sinnoh event, they may be wondering about the best movesets for the Gen 4 starters. We’ve got you covered on what we recommend for Torterra.
Torterra made its debut in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl as the final evolution of the Grass-type starter Turtwig. As the final form, Torterra adopts a Grass/Ground dual-type compared to its pure Grass previous evolutions.
During the Road to Sinnoh event, Pokemon Go trainers can face Grotle in 3-star Raids in addition to the other Gen 4 starters.
For those who have evolved that Grotle, keep reading for Torterra’s best moveset and its viability in competitive play.

As a Grass/Ground-type, Torterra is vulnerable to Ice, Bug, Fire, and Flying moves. However, it is resistant to Electric, Ground, and Rock-type attacks.

Alternatively, you could run Bite as a Fast Move instead of Razor Leaf and Solar Beam as a Charged Move instead of Frenzy Plant.

Is Torterra any good in Pokemon Go?
Torterra isn’t a terrible choice when it comes to competitive play in Pokemon Go. However, it is incredibly weak to Ice-type attacks with its Grass/Ground typing. Although Frenzy Plant is a great move to have to weaken Ground, Rock, and Water-type Pokemon.
