Can you play left hand in CS2? Counter-Strike 2 right-hand view model only

Counter-Strike 2, the anticipated sequel to CS:GO, aims to enhance every aspect of the previous game, except for one apparent oversight – the left-handed player experience. Here’s an overview of what we know about using the left hand in CS2.

When you first boot up Counter-Strike 2, you’ll automatically be set to a right-handed view. This means your player model will hold their weapons and equipment like smokes and nades in their right hand.

Many players chose to swap to a left-handed view in the original CS:GO, either due to preference or to simply move the weapon model out of the way. So, it’s no surprise players want to use the option in CS2 as well.

Is left-hand in CS2?

At the time of writing, it is not possible to use left-handed ViewModel in CS2.

It is not clear why Valve has opted to remove this option, which was previously possible in CS:GO with the cl_righthand 0 command. If you try this command in Counter-Strike 2, it will simply not be recognized.

Theories like player models and shadows being misaligned are possible reasons for left-hand’s omission. Others argue it’s simply not necessary and not the norm in other shooters. Although, Valorant does provide this option.

Valve may add left-hand later, as it is so heavily requested, both among casual players and the pro scene. We will update this article as soon as it is possible to use left hand in CS2.

Unfortunately, despite many complaints from the community and frequent updates from the devs, there has been no response to those asking for a left-hand view.

Why use left hand in CS2?

If you are left-handed, it’s obvious why you might prefer to use a left-hand view in the game. If you are right-handed, you might think that using a left-handed ViewModel is pointless.

However, even many right-handed players use a command to quickly switch between left and right hand. This is because the weapon and your character’s arms can sometimes block the view, so switching it quickly frees up your vision on one side.

That’s everything we know about left hand in CS2 so far. If the feature does get added in the future, we’ll be sure to update this page.
