On January 20, Niantic will hold the Pokemon Go Porygon Community Day Classic event in the mobile game, as players will have an increased chance to get Porygon and get a Porygon-Z with a special move.
Additionally, a new Special Research challenge was added for the event.

- Make 5 Nice Throws – 15 Poke Balls
- Catch 15 Porygon – Porygon Encounter
- Power up Pokemon 10 times – 20 Porygon Candy
Rewards: 2,000 Stardust, Porygon Encounter, 1 Incense
Step 2 of 4
- Transfer 10 Pokemon – 10 Pinap Berries
- Catch 15 Porygon – Porygon2 Encounter
- Evolve 3 Porygon – 30 Porygon Candy
Rewards: 1,500 XP, Porygon Encounter, 1 Egg Incubator
Step 3 of 4
- Make 3 Great Curveball Throws – 15 Great Balls
- Catch 15 Porygon – 1 Lucky Egg
- Evolve 1 Porygon2 – 50 Porygon Candy

It’s important to point out that an Upgrade is needed to evolve Porygon into Porygon2, while a Sinnoh Stone is a requirement to get Porygon-Z.
