Following a prolonged silence amidst growing player dissatisfaction, Infold has finally addressed the mounting controversy surrounding its popular open-world dress-up game, Infinity Nikki. Launched to widespread acclaim, the game attracted millions who dove into its enchanting world of fashion paired with unexpectedly rich lore. However, recent actions taken by the developers have sparked significant discontent among fans, leading to vocal protests against the company’s decisions.
In an official response shared via Discord, the Infold team has provided clarity on the ongoing criticism. The statement discusses their previous silence and outlines the motivations behind several contentious game updates. Additionally, Infold has announced the introduction of a player feedback initiative, designed to facilitate more open dialogue between players and the development team.
Developer Insights: Understanding the Issues
Addressing the Intro Retcon and Communication Gaps

Among Infold’s significant missteps was the unannounced retcon of the game’s introduction. Previously, the opening scene illustrated how Nikki and her companion Momo embarked on their journey into the captivating world of Miraland. However, players now find themselves abruptly introduced to the Sea of Stars update from Version 1.5, effectively excising crucial narrative elements from the story.
This change, along with other unwelcome updates, ignited a wave of backlash, leading fans to rain negative reviews on Steam, launch social media boycotts, and eventually engage in “girlcotting.”In response, Infold clarified that their goal was never to erase the original narrative and that the missing storyline and associated outfit are still on the development roadmap. Their statement reflects:
“The Threads of Reunion storyline’s absence in this version was never intended as a removal from Infinity Nikki’s narrative—its associated outfit remain on our development roadmap. Due to technical hurdles in Version 1.5, we were unable to properly refine the introduction of the Sea of Stars chapter and the narrative setup for Threads of Reunion, which regrettably led to confusion. These elements are planned for future updates.”
Furthermore, Infold acknowledged the delay in addressing player feedback, stating they aimed to fully implement solutions before responding. The message conveyed a commitment to methodical problem-solving: “Rather than offering premature communication, we chose to tackle these problems methodically—responding to your expectations only once we had secured concrete solutions.”
In another aspect that remains contentious, Infold pledged to improve the difficulties players face in acquiring complete outfits from the gacha system, especially following the introduction of an 11-piece outfit. The team announced plans to “expand tiered cumulative top-up rewards in upcoming versions”and to refine future gameplay mechanics through “rigorous design scrutiny.”
Launching the Fan Feedback Initiative

Commitment to Community Engagement
While Infold’s explanation for its prior silence may not fully satisfy all players, the company is prepared to enhance communication through the new Miraland Round Table initiative. This allows players to directly submit their insights and concerns for consideration by the development team.
Players have two primary methods to share feedback, as highlighted in the official statement:
- Email: Use the subject line [Table Advisor] and send your thoughts to [email protected].
- In-Game: Go to Pear-Pal > Customer Service, select the [Table Advisor] option, and submit your detailed feedback.
In closing, the Infold team expressed “guilt over delayed promises, yet gratitude for your unwavering support.”As a gesture of appreciation, players will receive rewards of 120 Diamonds and 1 Energy Crystal daily from June 5 through June 12, amounting to a total of 960 Diamonds and 8 Energy Crystals. This initiative signals a positive move toward improved player relations and reinforces a hopeful outlook for both Infinity Nikki and its dedicated player community.
