The recent update for Marvel Rivals by NetEase Games has introduced an exciting new feature: the Chrono Shield Card. This innovative card offers a significant advantage to players engaged in rank climbing by activating a shield that protects against point losses after match defeats. Notably, the Chrono Shield Card is exclusive to special events and cannot be purchased directly.
This article delves into the details of the Chrono Shield Card, exploring its functionality and offering guidance on how to effectively integrate it into your gameplay strategy.
Understanding the Chrono Shield Card in Marvel Rivals
The Chrono Shield Card is a recent addition introduced as part of the Galacta’s Gift event. When activated, this card prevents players from losing valuable ranking points when they experience a match loss. Unlike the traditional defeat Chrono Shield, which triggers only following a match refill, this new card activates immediately, provided you have it in your inventory.

This card is particularly valuable as it cannot be bought; players must earn it through in-game events. There is a seasonal cap of 20 cards, which means any unused cards will be removed at the end of the season.
Currently, players can earn up to 8 Chrono Shield Cards by participating in the ongoing Galacta’s Gift event. To qualify for these rewards, players must complete 12 matches (averaging 3 matches per day). Matches can be played across various modes, including Quick Match, Competitive, or Practice VS. AI.
Utilizing the Chrono Shield Card in Matches
The functionality of the Chrono Shield Card is straightforward; it activates automatically if the player has the card available in their inventory. The shield remains in effect until the player suffers a defeat in a game. However, it’s important to note that if a player is already under the influence of a previously activated Chrono Shield due to consecutive losses, the new card will not be effective. Moreover, this card is applicable only for Gold ranks and below, aiding those players in earning ELO points and progressing through the ranks.
- Earn up to 20 cards per season
- Participate in the Galacta’s Gift event for rewards
- Utilize the card to enhance rank climbing strategies
