Rumors about a new series inspired by the beloved film Tremors have recently gained traction on social media platforms, igniting excitement among fans. The speculation began circulating after Yoda Bby Aby posted a promotional image on Facebook on April 23, 2025.
Notably, another Facebook page, Rumbledore, contributed to the buzz just a day later by releasing a distinctive poster while sharing similar details. Both sources asserted that the series would debut on Netflix this August, consisting of eight episodes.
The captions accompanying these posts indicated that this new production is a reboot of Tremors featuring the return of Kevin Bacon in a leading role. Yoda Bby Aby elaborated on the show’s premise, stating:
“Return to Perfection, Nevada, where the ground shakes with chaos as giant, man-eating worms unleash havoc in the modern day. Expect wild, edge-of-your-seat action and the same crazy thrills that made the original films a cult classic!”
In contrast, Rumbledore’s post clarified that the series is not a direct remake but rather a follow-up that centers on Val McKee and other original characters. Furthermore, it hints that the storyline will unfold several years after the events depicted in the initial film.
However, it’s important to note that the rumors surrounding the new Tremors series are unfounded, as Yoda Bby Aby is known for sharing satirical news. Most announcements regarding their projects lack official confirmation from relevant production companies or the actors involved.
Reviving the Tremors Franchise: A Detailed Look at Previous Attempts
The original Tremors film, released over three decades ago, has left a significant mark on both critics and audiences. Following its success, the franchise spawned six sequels, with the latest installments—directed by Don Michael Paul—being released up until 2020. Additionally, a spin-off series aired on Syfy back in 2003.
A revival effort emerged approximately five years ago, with Kevin Bacon on board as an executive producer. According to an article by The Hollywood Reporter, Andrew Miller was brought in as showrunner and writer, envisioning a plot set 25 years post the original film, where Valentine McKee would return to confront new challenges.
This reboot was ultimately canceled, a decision that Kevin Bacon publicly reflected on in a now-deleted Instagram post from the following year. He shared his appreciation for the team involved and expressed:
“Although we made a fantastic pilot (IMHO) the network has decided not to move forward.”

Bacon also had hopes for another revival backed by Universal Cable Productions and Blumhouse Productions, as noted by The Hollywood Reporter. In a 2015 interview with IGN, he articulated his desire to return to the franchise, eager to reprieve his role as Valentine.
Recently, on April 21, 2025, The Hollywood Reporter revealed updates from the original creative team, including Ron Underwood and writers Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson, who have announced plans for a sequel. Their blog post reassured fans that the upcoming sequel will introduce graboids in a fresh setting, stating:
“Whatever we decide to pitch to Hollywood, it will not be a remake of the first movie with a new cast. Nor will it be a version of our original script for Tremors 5.”
While the initial three films were positively received, critical reviews became mixed starting with the fourth installment. Although Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson contributed to the first three entries, they did not return for the subsequent four films.
