Trending Fake Schedule 1 Mobile Game Appears on Various App Stores

Overview

  • A counterfeit mobile version of the popular Steam game Schedule 1 is climbing the rankings in various regions.
  • The bogus game is listed at $4.99 USD and seems to be a variant of the Schedule 1 demo, reusing assets from the original title.
  • User feedback has described this product as a “scam,”emphasizing that it was not developed by the creator of the original game.

A deceptive mobile adaptation of the acclaimed Steam game Schedule 1 has recently surged to the top of app charts in several countries. Initially launched in early access last month on Steam, the game attained remarkable popularity, boasting hundreds of thousands of simultaneous players. Despite ongoing updates from the indie developer, there is yet to be any official confirmation of a mobile port from the creator.

Currently, Schedule 1 is exclusively available on PC via Steam. Tyler, the brain behind the game, has indicated that support for Steam Deck is forthcoming. However, there are no current versions for consoles or mobile devices. Regrettably, this hasn’t deterred others from creating fraudulent versions. Earlier in the month, Tyler alerted followers that any games sporting “Schedule 1″on the PlayStation Store are not affiliated with him. Although he expressed enthusiasm for potentially bringing the game to consoles, it remains limited to PC for the time being.

Counterfeit Schedule 1 Mobile Version Surges on App Store

While Tyler has not yet publicly addressed the burgeoning issue, fans have reported that a fake mobile version of Schedule 1 has quickly ascended to the top of charts in various countries. In the United States, a title named “Schedule 1 Drug Dealer,”costing $4.99 USD, has claimed the number one position in the Apple App Store’s Entertainment category. This game mimics the key art, title, and logo of the original but is uninvolved with its actual developer, Tyler, also known as TVGS.

As reported by one Reddit user, this mobile game seems to only be a port of the demo version, lacking access to the full gameplay, which leaves players unable to progress in the main storyline. Despite a few favorable reviews surfacing, many users have criticized it as a “scam,”stressing its disconnection from the authentic creator. As one user review cautions, “If you pay, you will not get access to the full game,”according to App Store feedback.

These developments are just the latest hurdles for the developer, TVGS, following the substantial success of Schedule 1. After the game’s early access launch, Movie Games S.A., the publisher of Drug Dealer Simulator, initiated an investigation into potential intellectual property violations, claiming that Schedule 1 incorporates elements from their title, including plotlines, gameplay, and interface design.

Additionally, players have encountered various complications related to Schedule 1 mods, with many popular modifications reportedly infected with malware. While downloading mods for any game should always be done cautiously, the risks seem significantly higher with Schedule 1 mods. Various modifications, such as “Just Enough Drugs”and “Better Casino,”have been found to carry malware, further complicating the gaming experience.
