The online gaming community is abuzz with a new clash between popular Twitch streamers Felix “xQc”and Dontai “ImDontai.”The tension arose following xQc’s critical remarks about the recently released song “Anxiety”by American rapper Doechii, which notably incorporates a sample from Gotye’s 2011 chart-topping single “Somebody That I Used to Know.”xQc’s disdain for the new song was clear, as he referred to it as an “unfortunate use”of Gotye’s original track.
In a move that sparked considerable debate, xQc took to his X account to express his views on a post related to the music video for “Anxiety.”He tweeted:
“This is just awful, what an unfortunate use of the original song.”
The backlash from his comments was swift and varied, with some users making alarming accusations about his character, even suggesting that he harbors racial bias. Comments included:
“I’m convinced xQc just hates black people,”wrote X user @luanaxbelle
“He really should just come out and say he’s racist already,”wrote X user @NoFlawsKi
In the wake of the controversy, fellow streamer ImDontai weighed in, suggesting that viewers should gauge xQc’s opinion on the upcoming film “Sinners,”directed by Ryan Coogler, before deciding to watch it themselves. He sarcastically remarked:
“I want to see Sinners, but I have to hear what xQc thinks first before I waste my time.”
xQc’s Response to ImDontai’s Jibe
ImDontai’s comments quickly came to xQc’s attention, prompting him to respond live during his stream on April 20, 2025. He interpreted the remark about “Sinners”as part of a broader narrative accusing him of racism, which he believed was a direct result of his critique of Doechii’s song.
xQc briefly viewed the trailer for “Sinners,”which has garnered significant positive feedback, and noted its predominantly Black cast. He remarked:
“Okay, I get it, I get it. It’s the director of Black Panther, and it’s Black people, and I made a comment about a bad song that has a Black person singing it, so this guy (ImDontai) says, ‘I want to watch Sinners but I want to hear what xQc says first because he thinks that it’s all about people being Black and not about the song being dogsh*t.’ Is that right?”
Continuing, he refuted the implications of racial bias in his critique:
“Well, that’s interesting. I disagree. It’s all good, though.”
As of now, ImDontai has not publicly responded to xQc’s remarks. Although this exchange has yet to escalate into a full-blown feud, it will be fascinating to observe whether further dialogues emerge from this incident.
This isn’t the first instance of verbal sparring between ImDontai and xQc; a previous confrontation occurred in February 2025, when Dontai called out xQc for his comments regarding Imane “Pokimane”after her endorsement of Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime performance.
