Jimmy Donaldson, widely recognized as MrBeast, addressed recent criticisms regarding his charity videos in a post on X dated April 13, 2025. He responded to accusations suggesting that his acts of generosity are merely a tactic for generating views, citing interesting statistics to make his point clear.
For context, MrBeast has faced considerable backlash for his philanthropic content on YouTube. A recent example includes a video titled Rescuing Child Slaves in Africa on his Beast Philanthropy channel, which garnered claims of him “virtue signaling for profit.”

In his April 13 post, MrBeast shared a screenshot displaying his “Top Recent Videos”on X. He highlighted that among his last ten uploads, two of his least viewed videos included I Helped 2,000 People Walk Again and Watch This Video To Feed 1 Person In Need, which received only 24.3 million and 21.3 million views, respectively, within the first 22.5 hours. In stark contrast, his video entitled Beat Ronaldo, Win $1,000,000 achieved a whopping 49 million views in the same timeframe.
“My 2 worst performing videos this year are the ones where I help people. Just thought I’d share this because some people think I just do it for views but I would get way more views if I didn’t help thousands of people walk and give away a million meals.”
MrBeast’s Commitment to Philanthropy Despite Controversy
With an impressive 385 million subscribers, MrBeast stands as a leading figure on YouTube. Known for his viral video strategies, he hasn’t let the criticism deter him from his charitable efforts. Recently, he introduced initiatives through his chocolate company, Feastables, aimed at combating child labor and exploitation in cocoa production in West African farms.
MrBeast has openly voiced his frustrations about the negativity he encounters when posting videos dedicated to helping others, even recounting instances where social media has drawn extreme comparisons, such as likening him to Hitler because of his philanthropic endeavors.
By sharing his own viewership data, MrBeast has firmly stated that content focused on charity often draws less attention than his other popular videos. Regardless of the backlash, he affirmed his commitment to these charitable projects, stating:
“People would also hate me less lol. Doesn’t matter though, I’m gonna keep doing it because I’m the most subscribed YouTube channel in the world and I believe using my platform to inspire people to do good is important (and I also like making these videos).”
In related developments, MrBeast recently caused a stir while discussing his net worth, which has generated additional interest in his financial achievements and philanthropic model.
