Character Customization Options in Last Epoch

Last Epoch has firmly established itself as a noteworthy entry in the action role-playing game (ARPG) genre. However, players seeking extensive character customization might find the options lacking. While the game has garnered attention since its release and is preparing for a significant update on April 17 for its second season, it does not currently offer robust cosmetic customization features.

Players can alter their character’s appearance through equipment, which affects visual representation in-game. Unfortunately, the title still does not feature a transmog system that would enable players to adjust the aesthetics of their character beyond the gear they wear. This limitation may disappoint fans who seek personalized visual expressions.

Character Customization Remains Limited in Last Epoch

As it stands, Last Epoch does not provide players with any real options for character customization. When creating a character—whether in the current League or from Legacy options—players are unable to modify their visual features or appearance. This lack of customization leaves players with limited means to express individual preferences.

If players are dissatisfied with their character’s appearance, they can resort to disguising it under bulky armor, robes, or helmets. While character customization is a desired feature among players, it isn’t universally available in every ARPG. For example, Diablo 4 offers a wealth of options, whereas the highly anticipated Path of Exile 2 also lacks customizable character features.

Interestingly, a commonality among Last Epoch, Diablo 4, and Path of Exile is the option to purchase cosmetics that enhance the visual appeal of equipment. Although Last Epoch currently lacks true character customization and a comprehensive transmog feature, players can choose from an array of cosmetics available for purchase. These can alter the appearance of gear in the following slots:

  • Helmet
  • Chest
  • Shield
  • Weapon
  • Gloves
  • Boots
  • Back
  • Portal

While these options allow for a degree of aesthetic variation, they do not equate to real character customization. Players merely receive cosmetic skins that modify the armor they are already utilizing, which naturally shifts as they collect and trade equipment throughout the game. However, it’s worth noting that many players may not prioritize character customization in a fast-paced game like Last Epoch, where detailed character visualization is rare—primarily observed during character selection screens. Nonetheless, the desire for a more comprehensive customization feature remains evident, and hopefully, future updates may address these concerns.
