Crash and Spyro Developers Eager to Create a New Banjo-Kazooie Game After Long Hiatus

Reviving a Classic: Toys for Bob’s Interest in Banjo-Kazooie

In an exciting development in the gaming world, Toys for Bob has expressed a desire to develop a new Banjo-Kazooie title. Originally launched in 1998 for the Nintendo 64, Banjo-Kazooie, along with its sequel Banjo-Tooie, became a cornerstone of iconic platform gaming during that era. Although the franchise later transitioned to the Xbox 360 platform with the release of Nuts & Bolts, the series has not seen a new entry for over 15 years. Since acquiring Rare, its original developer, Microsoft has seen the brand largely associated with Xbox.

Toys for Bob Seeks to Revitalize Banjo-Kazooie

Currently, while Rare is immersed in developing its new title, Everwild, another studio is keen on taking up the beloved Banjo-Kazooie franchise. Toys for Bob, known for its impressive portfolio that includes classics like Star Control and collaborations within the Call of Duty franchise, aims to embark on an adventurous revival of the franchise. In a recent interview conducted by Canadian Guy Eh on YouTube, Paul Yan, Co-Studio Head and Creative Director at Toys for Bob, shared his enthusiasm for collaborating with Team Xbox.

“One company we’d like to work with is one we’re already working with: Team Xbox. They’ve been a great partner, and they also have a very interesting roster of characters that Toys for Bob could have a lot of fun with. The honey bear is the first one that comes to mind – I think we can all agree Banjo’s been hibernating long enough, right?”

A Proven Track Record in Revivals

Toys for Bob boasts a successful track record in revitalizing classic characters, notably through the recent remakes of Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot. Additionally, the studio has a history rooted in the Skylanders franchise, showcasing its expertise in breathing new life into established intellectual properties.
