Classic Call of Duty Titles May Soon Join Xbox Game Pass

Overview

  • Classic titles Call of Duty: World at War and Infinite Warfare are appearing as “Included with Game Pass”on the Microsoft Store.
  • No official confirmation from Microsoft or Activision regarding their addition to Xbox Game Pass has yet been announced.
  • Speculation persists about the potential inclusion of more classic Call of Duty titles in the Game Pass lineup.

It seems that two iconic entries in the Call of Duty franchise could soon be joining Microsoft’s popular Xbox Game Pass subscription service. The games in question, Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, have recently been spotted on the Windows Store marked as “Included with Game Pass.”This suggests a possible future integration into the service, with original release dates of 2008 and 2016, respectively.

Following Microsoft’s landmark acquisition of Activision Blizzard in 2023, a host of titles including Diablo 4 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 have made their way to Game Pass. Despite this influx, numerous Activision games still await their debut on the platform. Currently, only a couple of recent Call of Duty titles are available on Game Pass, but ongoing developments hint that additional titles could soon follow.

Potential Addition of World at War and Infinite Warfare to Game Pass

Speculation regarding classic Call of Duty games on Xbox Game Pass has intensified since Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard. Recent observations by XboxEra revealed that both Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare are tagged as “Included with Game Pass”on the Windows Store. While there’s been no official word from either Microsoft or Activision, these findings, combined with prior rumors, suggest that this may not be a mere oversight.

In December of last year, many avid Call of Duty fans anticipated an imminent announcement regarding Xbox Game Pass, particularly after various classic titles like Call of Duty and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare surfaced on the Microsoft Store for PC. Although that announcement never materialized, the repeated appearances of these titles led many to speculate about hidden intentions. Although none of this is officially confirmed, there’s a strong likelihood that additional classic Call of Duty games will join Game Pass in the future; the burning question remains: when, and which titles will be prioritized?

In the interim, current Xbox Game Pass subscribers can enjoy new perks in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone. Activision has recently introduced a special Combat Pack to Xbox Game Pass, previously exclusive to PlayStation Plus. Subscribers to either the Ultimate tier or the PC version can redeem this Pack at no extra cost, which includes operator skins, weapon blueprints, and a variety of cosmetic enhancements and consumables like double XP tokens.
