On April 11, 2025, Gachiakuta, an upcoming anime adaptation of Kei Urana’s dark fantasy manga, unveiled an exciting new promotional video and character visual featuring Enjin, Rudo’s mentor. This highly anticipated series is scheduled to premiere in July 2025, aligning with the Summer 2025 anime season.
Produced by BONES FILMS, the anime adapts the gripping saga serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since 2022, with 14 tankobon volumes released to date.
New Character Reveal: Enjin in Gachiakuta’s Teaser
The latest teaser, shared on the anime’s official channels, introduces Enjin—voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi—who serves as the deuteragonist. This stunning imagery, crafted by character designer and chief animation director Satoshi Ishino, shows Enjin holding his umbrella, a symbol of his vital role in the storyline, while maintaining a calm demeanor.
Complementing the visual, a captivating catchphrase in Japanese is included, translating to “Let’s do some cleaning.”The anime’s logo, also designed by Ando, is prominently featured in the promotional material, further enhancing the visual appeal. The character promotional video is enriched with memorable lines drawn from Urana’s original manga, promising fans an engaging adaptation.

Within the manga, Enjin is a member of the Cleaners, an elite organization dedicated to combating the menacing Trash Beasts that inhabit the Ground. He encounters Rudo in this treacherous world and takes him under his wing. Enjin is also the leader of Team Akuta, where Rudo aspires to learn how to return to the elevated realm known as the Sphere.
The cast of Gachiakuta features talents such as Aoi Ichikawa as Rudo, Katsuyuki Konishi as Enjin, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Zanka, and Yumiri Hanamori as Riyo, with additional cast announcements expected soon. The anime will air on the Agaru anime timeslot, reaching audiences across 28 CBC and TBS-affiliated networks in Japan this July, with a specific premiere date forthcoming.

The narrative of Gachiakuta centers around Rudo, a young boy stranded in the slums of a floating city known as Sphere. Under the guardianship of his foster parent Regto, Rudo lives a life of scavenging for discarded items.
However, a twist of fate leads to Rudo being unjustly accused of a crime, resulting in his expulsion into the dark abyss of the Ground. In this perilous environment, he confronts the terrifying Trash Beasts while nurturing an intense desire for vengeance against those who betrayed him.
