Pokemon GO Player Discovers Unique Location for Western and Eastern Hemisphere Spawns

Discovering a Unique Pokémon GO Location

A Pokémon GO enthusiast has recently stumbled upon an extraordinary spot that offers spawns from both the Western and Eastern Hemispheres. The Reddit user, MasterofBiscuits, highlighted this captivating discovery in a post featuring a location within the southeastern suburbs of London. Remarkably, the two gyms present in this area had different Ultra Beasts — Blacephalon and Stakataka — indicating that the Prime Meridian divides them, positioning each gym in a distinct hemisphere.

Shiny Ultra Beasts Released

Excitement recently surged in the Pokémon community as, in April 2025, shiny forms of Blacephalon and Stakataka became available. However, these Ultra Beasts are region-locked, with Blacephalon spawning exclusively in the Western Hemisphere and Stakataka confined to the Eastern Hemisphere. This unique distribution adds an extra layer of challenge for trainers seeking to complete their collections.

Community Reactions

Upon sharing the post, a wave of responses from the community celebrated this rare occurrence. For instance, one reddit user, Educational_Eagle267, expressed their enthusiasm, reminiscing about previous Ultra Beasts, Kartana and Celesteela, and expressed hope that the hemispheres might switch again.

“Now that’s a rare occurrence! Hopefully they’ll one day swap hemispheres like they did with Kartana/Celesteela!”

Additionally, techbear72 inquired about the exact location, as they were planning a visit to Canary Wharf and hoped to check the nearby gym.

“Got coordinates / what3words / street names or anything? I’m going to be in Canary Wharf soon with some free time so would like to drop by and try my luck out at least keep an eye on campfire or something.”

In response, MasterofBiscuits promptly revealed that the location was St Mary’s Church in Shortlands.

Another user, hi_12343003, suggested identifying the convergence point of the North, East, South, and West hemispheres for additional region-exclusive spawns.

“Now find the spot where the north east south and west hemispheres all converge so you can also get north/south hemisphere regionals.”

This prompted a response from MarsBarMuncher, clarifying that such a point lies in the South Atlantic Ocean, south of Ghana and west of Gabon.

“It is in the South Atlantic Ocean, due south of Ghana and due west of Gabon.”
