Exploring the Legacy of MOMOLAND
MOMOLAND was established through the reality competition show, Finding Momoland, orchestrated by MLD Entertainment. The original lineup included Hyebin, Yeonwoo, Jane, Nayun, JooE, Ahin, and Nancy. They made an impactful debut with their mini-album, Welcome to Momoland, released in November 2016.
The group saw expansion in 2017 with the addition of Daisy and Taeha, although the lineup would eventually change. Members Taeha and Yeonwoo departed in 2019, followed by Daisy’s exit in 2020.
That same year, MOMOLAND released the special EP Starry Night and signed with ICM Partners to enhance their presence in the U.S. market. Their 2021 collaboration with Natti Natasha, the English single “Yummy Yummy Love,”earned them a nomination at the 2022 Juventud Awards, marking a historic recognition as the first Korean act acknowledged at the event.
Following the expiration of their contract with MLD Entertainment in January, the members announced their disbandment in February 2023 via heartfelt handwritten letters posted on Instagram.
In related news, vocalist Nancy is slated to make her acting debut in the upcoming film Pig Valley, produced by Ma Dong-seok, further showcasing the talents of the former members.
